Mumbai : The BCCI will be awaiting more twists when the e-auction process resumes at 11 am on Thursday.
The Consolidated Rights had offer Rs. 6,032.50 crores in the last bid of Day Two at 6.30 PM, this offer makes to a per match value of Rs. 59.14 crore, The figure has already made the Indian Premier League per match record value of Rs. 55 crore in the past. At 5.30 pm on day two it was priced at Rs. 6003.9 crore.
The bidding process for the 102-game BCCI FTP over the next five years (2018-2023) is still on. The BCCI has a intuition that the final for the consolidated rights bid may touch an enormous value of Rs.6,500 crore.
“The bidders are taking their own time, but there is an aggression in the bidding trends. We initially had expected a 10-15 per cent premium over the previous per match value, but now we see it certainly going past the Rs.60 crore mark, maybe touching the Rs.63 crore figure,” says a senior BCCI official.
Since April 2014, Star India has been paying the BCCI Rs. 43.3 crore per game. The 21st Century Fox-owned broadcaster had committed an eye popping Rs.55 crore last year per IPL match as it made the Rs. 16,347.5 crores successful bid for the consolidated media rights for most happening event in the cricket world.
The bidding process will resume at 11 AM Thursday. We will have to wait and see what the day 3 has in store.
