Our country has always been a powerhouse to incubate innovative ways of connection, be it the social interaction, fintech revolution, e-commerce usage, or the latest edtech boom. With the majority of funds flowing through the start-up channels, India has leveraged this weapon to encourage digital transformation for every part of its region. Digitization in tier-2 and tier-3 cities is not an untapped dream anymore. 300 million+ urban consumers have tough choices in choosing their applications, but this Independence Day, it is time to reflect on the remaining and the majority 500 million users from rural and smaller towns – the real Bharat.

The world has started to see real-India – Bharat. With over 530 million internet users, India has the second-largest internet user base in the world today. The smartness of our phones has led to an unparalleled adoption of mobile applications in the developing and under-developed cities. Covid-19 has changed our outlook on what digital empowerment means. We are living in a country where we face many challenges for the implementation of various services in remote areas. But, when we are isolating ourselves, it is the need of the hour to establish the relevant digital frameworks for rapid technological evolution in several cities.

On the occasion of 74th Independence Day, Bobble AI – World’s First Conversation Media Platform strives to make communication easier and accessible without any barriers. With this vision, the company proudly presents a detailed assessment of digital growth trajectories for the real digitalBharat. In addition to this, Bobble AI has also added a new feature on the app to send animated stickers over Whatsapp. For the first time in the world, users can share Animated Bigmoji – Magnified Emojis, from the emoji panel.

Regional language content powering daily communication

We are a country that boasts about its people’s diversity and their closeness to mother tongue influences. Bobble AI empowers millions of Indians to communicate in 100+ languages and expressive content. While the company is actively creating more stickers, gifs, and memes for regional consumption, the adoption of regional languages has been taking place in every millisecond.

  • Tier-1 cities have surpassed the digital enablement stage and restricted themselves with the most common communication medium. There has been a negligible 2% increase in people adopting a new regional language from cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, etc.
  •  However, users in tier 2 cities like Lucknow, Pune, Amritsar, Ajmer, Bhopal, Jammu, etc., are more inclined towards regional languages. There is a 45% increase in the usage of regional languages in such cities. In tier 3 cities including Kanpur, Vizag, Jamnagar, Roorkee, Dehradun, Kannur, etc. there is a 22% increase in usage of regional languages.
  • Amongst the wide pool of regional languages, Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Telugu, and Kannada are amongst the most used vernacular languages.

Cashless Economy and Digitization

For retail stores and e-commerce orders, it is common for consumers to make their payments via digital payment mechanisms and taking contactless delivery of goods whenever possible. The lockdown has also brought many first-time users, who were not very tech-savvy, closer to the digital payments’ ecosystem as they had a need to make digital payments for essentials.

  • In past one year, tier 1 cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, etc. have witnessed a whopping 46 % increase in user count on digital payment applications such as Paytm, Google Pay, Amazon pay, Phonepe, Bharatpe
  • Being at the forefront of an enormous digital growth battle, tier 2 cities including Lucknow, Pune, Amritsar, Ajmer, Bhopal, Jammu, etc have witnessed a 100 % increase in active user count on the applications.
  • Tier 3 cities including Kanpur, Vizag, Jamnagar, Roorkee, Dehradun, Kannur, etc. are not behind with a 67 % increase in active user count.

E-Learning Platforms & Development

E-learning – a way of learning that has heaved into view in recent times. Despite being available for years, people in India have been scrambling over to the online learning bandwagon due to a pandemic outbreak. As a result, the demands of remote learning apps have increased significantly.

Shoppers and Online Applications

Over the past year, the online shopping industry has witnessed a magnificent transition ranging from a wide variety to an overall enhancement in user experience, matching the in-person shopping experiences. With the outbreak of COVID-19, online shopping applications have been a game-changer for millions of Indian households.

Tier 3 cities including Kanpur, Vizag, Jamnagar, Roorkee, Dehradun, Kannur, etc. have seen a 49 % increase in active user count on such applications.

Emoticons – an easier way to express

Emojis are the easiest way to express an emotion, sometimes easier than a face to face communication. Bobble AI has reported a 14% increase in usage of emojis in tier-1 cities as compared to last year i.eDelhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata, and Hyderabad.

We have witnessed a massive increase in the intention to communicate within tier-2 cities. While most emojis are similar to in tier-1 cities, we can immediately notice the folded hands (or namaste) emoji to be at number 2 highlighting the significance of our traditional greetings in the digital medium. Emoticon usage in tier 2 cities including  Lucknow, Pune, Amritsar, Ajmer, Bhopal, Jammu, etc. has gone up by a whopping 61% as compared to last year.

There is more love than sadness in tier 3 cities. Different forms of heart emojis are hugely popular and demonstrating the oneness in these regions.

Emoticon usage in tier 3 cities including  Kanpur, Vizag, Jamnagar, Roorkee, Dehradun, Kannur, etc. has gone up by 25% compared to last year.
