&pictures is all set to air the world television premiere of Mohalla Assi on 29th October at 9.30 PM.
Starring Sunny Deol and Sakshi Tanwar, the movie is based on the Hindi novel Kashi Ka Assi by Dr. Kashi Nath Singh, which is a parody on the commercialization of pilgrimage cities and bogus gurus who lure the tourists.
Centred around the holy city of Varanasi, a determined Sanskrit scholar is adamant on changing age-old practices, walking the righteous path taking the moral high ground by deciding to take matters into his own hands as the world around him changes and he struggles to keep up. Based on Kashinath Singh’s novel Kashi Ka Assi, the film is about the changing cultural dynamics and social fabric at Varanasi’s Assi Ghat. Will our Pandit ji be able to cope with this transition? Will he abandon his morals or will he defy odds to protect his values?
