Deccan Herald, Karnataka’s leading homegrown English daily from the house of The Printers (Mysore), proudly concluded the 7th edition of DH Changemakers at a glittering felicitation ceremony held at the Prestige Falcon’s Den, Bangalore. The event, which took place on January 24, 2025, celebrated 15 remarkable individuals who are making a significant and lasting impact on society through their work across diverse fields such as literature, art, music, human rights, theatre, wildlife, conservation and sport.
This year’s Changemakers were honored for their tireless efforts in driving positive change in communities across Karnataka. From innovative entrepreneurs to passionate advocates for conservation, their contributions reflect the essence of Deccan Herald’s ideology of “The Power of Good.”
“We are proud to showcase the work of these extraordinary individuals, who continue to inspire and lead by example,” said KV Subramanya, Executive Editor of Deccan Herald. “The 2025 edition of DH Changemakers marks another milestone in our journey to highlight and celebrate the unsung heroes of our state who are transforming lives with their selfless contributions.”
In keeping with tradition, the event was preceded by a striking Changemakers 2025 pull-out published on January 1st, and a series of high-quality video features released throughout the month, offering an in-depth look at each honoree’s journey. These videos, alongside their profiles, are available on Deccan Herald’s website (https://www.deccanherald.com/changemakers-2025), showcasing their inspiring stories and the significant impact of their work.
The esteemed jury included Dr Pratima Murthy – Director – NIMHANS, Prof G N Devy – Thinker and Cultural Activist, Anita Ratnam – Founder, Samvada Youth Resource Centres and Baduku Community College, and Vasudhendra – Author & Publisher, as well as distinguished guests and dignitaries.
Captain G R Gopinath, Indian Entrepreneur and Founder of Air Deccan who was the chief guest at the seventh edition of the DH Changemakers, urged people to imbibe the values of the Changemakers, to develop the courage to dream and the conviction to follow through their dreams while lauding the initiative from Deccan Herald
“All Changemakers are big dreamers. Be it Basavanna, Shankaracharya or Ramanuja. Ramanuja did not agree with his guru. Shankara created his own vision. In politics, literature and other fields, there are big believers. But each dream and belief must be followed by achievement, hard work and perseverance,” he said.
The event was supported by Karnataka Residential Educational Institutions Society (KREIS) along with our sponsor partners Mahindra, Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences, Sparsh Hospital, Trawelmart, First Circle, and Margadarsi.
20 students from KREIS engaged with our changemakers and they will be our messengers to spread the spirit of our initiative. The Society has partnered with us to take our message to 800 schools across Karnataka.

Since its inception in 2019, DH Changemakers has grown into one of Karnataka’s most anticipated events, celebrating the accomplishments of unsung heroes from across the state.
