Mumbai: IndusInd Bank on Monday announced the appointment of Rajiv Anand as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, marking a significant leadership transition at the private sector lender.
In a regulatory filing, the bank stated that its Board of Directors has approved Anand’s designation as an ‘Additional Director’ in the MD & CEO category for a period of three years. His appointment will take effect from August 25, 2025, and continue until August 24, 2028, subject to shareholder approval at the upcoming Annual General Meeting.
Anand, a seasoned banker with over two decades of experience in financial services, previously served as the Deputy Managing Director of Axis Bank, where he was instrumental in driving the bank’s Wholesale Banking Business. Over the years, he has held several leadership roles across asset management, retail, and wholesale banking segments.
He began his stint with Axis Group in 2009 as the founding Managing Director and CEO of Axis Asset Management Co. Ltd., before transitioning to retail banking operations as the President of Retail Banking at Axis Bank. Later, he was inducted into Axis Bank’s Board and assumed charge as the Head of Wholesale Banking.
A Chartered Accountant by qualification and a graduate in commerce, Anand is widely respected in the banking sector for his strategic insight and operational acumen.
The announcement comes just days after Axis Bank disclosed on April 25 that Anand would be stepping down as Deputy MD on August 3, following the completion of his third term as a Director on the bank’s board.
Commenting earlier during the Q1 FY26 earnings call, IndusInd Bank Chairman Sunil Mehta noted the bank’s focus on reinforcing its top leadership bench by identifying high-calibre candidates from within the organisation and externally. Anand’s appointment is seen as a strategic move in that direction.
With this transition, IndusInd Bank aims to bolster its growth trajectory and further enhance its offerings in both retail and wholesale banking segments under Anand’s leadership.
