Delhi: Croma, an omni-channel electronics retailer from the Tata Group, has released its Year-End Consumer Trends 2025, highlighting a decisive shift in Indian consumption patterns towards premium features, smart convenience and health-focused appliances across its nationwide offline and online network.

According to the report, smartphones continued to dominate upgrade cycles, with overall sales registering strong year-on-year growth. Notably, one in three phones sold fell in the ₹20,000–30,000 premium band, while nearly one in five belonged to flagship or super-flagship categories. Aspirational trade-ups were evident, with select price corridors witnessing over 300% growth, reflecting consumers’ readiness to invest in technology as a marker of identity and lifestyle.

In computing, laptops recorded double-digit growth, led by premiumisation across categories. Gaming laptops surged by over 25%, driven by demand for high-performance professional models, while ultra-thin non-gaming laptops doubled in sales as consumers sought portability without compromising power. Bengaluru, Mumbai and Delhi emerged as the leading markets shaping India’s AI-first computing wave.

Home entertainment also scaled up significantly, as Indian households increasingly opted for cinema-like experiences. Sales of 65-inch and above televisions rose sharply, with Bengaluru leading 65-inch demand and Mumbai topping ultra-large screen purchases. Gurugram emerged as the most future-ready market with high preference for 8K-ready televisions, while Delhi NCR led growth in immersive audio systems.

Commenting on the findings, a spokesperson at Infiniti Retail Ltd. said, “Croma’s year-end data shows a clear shift in how Indians are upgrading their homes and lifestyles. Consumers today are confident, informed and willing to invest in technology that delivers tangible everyday value, whether it’s larger screens, smarter appliances, energy-efficient cooling or health-led products. These trends reflect a maturing market where choices are driven by experience, relevance and long-term utility.”

Cooling appliances remained resilient, with Delhi and Mumbai leading AC demand. Energy efficiency emerged as a key driver, with nearly one in four ACs sold nationwide being 5-star rated, and 32% of overall AC sales comprising Smart ACs. North India also witnessed rising demand for all-season ACs that double up as heaters, offering significant energy savings.

Big-ticket home appliances moved further up the value curve in 2025. Front-load washing machines posted strong double-digit growth, led by Bengaluru and Pune, while side-by-side refrigerators gained traction in Delhi, followed by Bengaluru, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad.

Health-focused appliances gained momentum across Indian homes. Air fryer sales jumped nearly 38% year-on-year, air purifiers saw expanded adoption beyond Delhi-NCR into Mumbai and Bengaluru, and water purifiers recorded strong growth, led by Bengaluru, reflecting heightened health and wellness awareness.

Smart convenience emerged as the standout trend of the year, with automated and robotic appliances witnessing nearly 2X growth. Bengaluru emerged as India’s robotics capital, reinforcing its leadership in tech-forward adoption.

From smartphones and laptops to kitchens, cooling and entertainment, Croma’s Year-End Consumer Trends 2025 underscore how Indian consumers are upgrading with confidence—embracing premium, smart and health-first living as the new normal.
