Mumbai: In a significant development for India’s sports business ecosystem, Legends League Cricket (LLC) has been acquired by Blue God Entertainment for ₹49 crore, marking what the stakeholders describe as the first instance of a cricket league being housed under a listed Indian entity.
The transaction is being positioned as a structural shift in how sports intellectual properties are owned and monetised in India — bringing together professional league management, entertainment monetisation, and access to capital markets under one framework.
Under the terms of the agreement, Blue God Entertainment will assume long-term commercial rights for the league, including media monetisation, sponsorship sales, franchise development, and global content distribution. The structure allows Absolute Legends Sports Pvt Ltd — the league’s promoter — to adopt an asset-light expansion strategy while retaining long-term brand stewardship.
Calling it a watershed moment for the industry, Raman Raheja, Co-founder, Legends League Cricket, said the integration of a premium cricket property with public markets introduces a new valuation and scaling template for sports IPs.
“By integrating a premier cricket property with public markets, we are creating a new framework for how sports intellectual properties are valued, monetised, and scaled,” Raheja said, describing the move as a defining phase in the evolution of global sports business models.
Nitin Khanna, spokesperson for Blue God Entertainment, highlighted the commercial upside of the acquisition.
“Legends League Cricket offers a powerful growth platform with significant commercial potential. This acquisition strengthens our long-term vision of building a leading sports and entertainment ecosystem,” Khanna said.
Legends League Cricket, promoted by Absolute Legends Sports, has positioned itself as a scalable global cricket property featuring former international players and targeting cross-border audiences. Chairman Vivek Khushalani said the league has been built on strong commercial fundamentals with growing fan traction.
“Legends League Cricket has been built as a scalable global sports property with strong commercial fundamentals and growing fan engagement,” Khushalani noted. “This partnership marks the league’s next phase by bringing in institutional capital and widening global expansion opportunities.”
Industry observers say the transaction could serve as a template for institutional ownership of sports properties in India, especially at a time when private equity, public markets and entertainment capital are increasingly converging around sports IP.
With formal integration into a listed structure, Legends League Cricket now seeks to leverage capital markets access to accelerate franchise expansion, deepen sponsorship pools and expand its international footprint — positioning itself at the crossroads of sport, entertainment and structured investment.
