Mumbai: Rohan Mathur has stepped down as marketing director for India and emerging Asia at The LEGO Group, closing an 18-year corporate journey that included senior roles at both LEGO and Procter & Gamble.
Mathur confirmed his departure via a LinkedIn post, indicating that he is shifting focus toward building an independent venture. While details remain undisclosed, he outlined plans to work across keynote speaking, AI training, and fractional leadership roles, positioning himself as a “crossroads navigator” for organisations dealing with growth, brand reinvention, and AI-led transformation.
Having joined LEGO in 2016, Mathur played a key role in shaping the company’s marketing strategy across Asia. Most recently, between 2024 and 2026, he led marketing for India and emerging Asia, overseeing operations across 10 markets including India, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, and Vietnam. Under his leadership, the region delivered a twofold increase in topline growth over a three-year period.
He was also instrumental in developing LEGO’s “Playground” campaign, which gained traction beyond the region and was later scaled globally. His portfolio included driving culturally resonant campaigns aligned with key regional moments such as Diwali and Ramadan.
Before taking on the broader emerging Asia mandate, Mathur served as marketing director for Southeast Asia from 2019 to 2024. During this period, he contributed to stabilising business performance in Singapore and expanding LEGO’s retail footprint and strategic partnerships. His earlier roles at LEGO spanned both marketing and sales, including positions such as senior regional sales manager for South Asia and senior marketing manager.
Prior to LEGO, Mathur spent nearly eight years at Procter & Gamble, working across brand management and e-commerce functions in APAC markets.
Reflecting on his tenure, Mathur highlighted LEGO’s expansion across Asia-Pacific, including the establishment of local offices in India and Indonesia, as well as the setting up of a manufacturing facility in Vietnam.
His exit comes at a time when LEGO continues to strengthen its regional marketing ecosystem. In December 2025, the company brought in Fiona Huang as business partner director at Our LEGO Agency APAC, the brand’s in-house creative and marketing arm for the region. She works alongside Primus Nair and reports to Annie Boo, as the company continues to scale its integrated marketing capabilities across Asia-Pacific.
