Mumbai: Warner Bros. Discovery marks a historic milestone today as it celebrates the 100th birthday of Sir David Attenborough — a living legend, the world’s most beloved natural historian, and the voice that has guided generations through the wonders of our planet. To honour this extraordinary occasion, Discovery Channel and Animal Planet are airing a special programming line-up paying tribute to his unparalleled legacy in wildlife and environmental storytelling.
In India, Discovery Channel introduced generations of audiences to Sir David Attenborough’s work, shaping an enduring connection with natural history storytelling. Over the decades, Discovery Channel, together with the BBC Studios’ Natural History Unit, has produced some of the world’s most iconic natural history titles — including Planet Earth and Life — series that have helped define and elevate the genre globally.
Headlining the tribute, Life in Colours premieres on both Discovery Channel and Animal Planet on May 8. Narrated by Sir David Attenborough, this all-new special explores his lifelong fascination with the natural world and its breathtaking diversity. Through groundbreaking filming techniques, the film unveils how animals harness colour in astonishing ways — for survival, communication, and courtship — revealing behaviours that exist beyond the limits of the human eye. It is a visually stunning journey through nature, guided by its most iconic voice.
Also returning is Parenthood, a special re-release narrated by Sir David Attenborough. The film traces the universal journey of raising young in the wild, capturing raw moments of instinct, fierce protection, and hard-won survival across species — from tentative first steps to daring first hunts, laying bare the deeply emotional and often perilous realities of parenthood in the animal kingdom.

Sai Abishek, Head of Factual Entertainment, Lifestyle & Kids, South Asia, Warner Bros. Discovery, said, “Sir David Attenborough’s storytelling has shaped the way generations connect with nature and understand the world around them. For decades, he has brought audiences closer to the wonders of our planet with a voice that is both deeply personal and universally impactful. As he turns 100, we are honoured to celebrate a living legend who continues to inspire curiosity and love for the natural world. His work has held a special place for audiences in India through Animal Planet & Discovery Channel, building a deep and lasting affinity for natural history storytelling over the years. Bringing this celebration to India makes it especially meaningful for us.”
Life in Colours (Premiere) will air on Discovery Channel at 9 PM, and on Animal Planet at 3 PM with a re-run at 9 PM. Parenthood (Re-release) will air on Animal Planet at 2 PM and 8 PM.
For decades, Warner Bros. Discovery has championed stories that bring audiences closer to the natural world. This special programming not only marks a milestone birthday — it reaffirms the enduring power of storytelling that moves people to see, understand, and care for the planet we share.
