“What we throw away always comes back to us in one way or another.”
That was the idea behind KET Gala 2026, a unique awareness campaign by Radio City 91.1 FM Bengaluru, held on the city’s iconic MG Road in association with JD Fashion Institute.
The message was simple yet powerful: what we throw away always comes back to us in one way or another.
KET Gala was conceptualized by Radio City and brought to life by JD Fashion Institute. Waste was transformed into wearable art. From plastic bags and snack wrappers to e-waste and discarded wires, materials that would normally end up in a landfill were reimagined as eye-catching fashion pieces.
Radio City RJs RJ Nethra, RJ Amit, RJ Pallavi, and RJ Nikitha took to the streets carrying this message in outfits designed by the fashion institute. They were joined by students of JD Fashion Institute, who also walked the streets wearing garments created entirely from waste materials.
Ten models walked the KET Gala runway, while five others carried placards with messages designed to grab attention in a fun, Gen Z-inspired way. The goal was not just to showcase creativity, but to make people pause and reflect on their everyday habits.
RJ Nethra wore a garment made from colourful plastic carry bags, highlighting our unnecessary dependence on single-use plastic. RJ Amit stepped out in a suit crafted from discarded chips packets. RJ Pallavi’s outfit transformed ordinary trash bags into a striking fashion statement, while RJ Nikitha’s look featured discarded computer motherboards, giving electronic waste a fashionable second life.
The response from the public was immediate. People stopped, watched, clicked pictures, and joined the conversation. What started as a fun street activation soon became a powerful reminder about waste, consumption, and responsibility.
KET Gala 2026 proved that awareness does not always need a lecture. Sometimes, it can arrive dressed in fashion, standing in the middle of MG Road, asking a simple question:
If karma always comes back, what about the waste we throw away?
