Mumbai: Strengthening its long-standing commitment to creating meaningful impact through content and purpose-led initiatives, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (‘Z’) has announced a new initiative aimed at accelerating the growth of football in India by enabling every Zee5 subscriber to contribute towards identifying, training and nurturing young football talent across the country.
As part of the initiative, the Company will contribute 15% of Zee5’s football-related subscription revenues towards building a stronger football ecosystem in India, creating opportunities for grassroots development and helping shape the next generation of Indian football talent.
Over the past three decades, Zee has played an active role in identifying and nurturing talent across the entertainment industry while also contributing to the evolution of Indian sports through strategic associations. Building on its experience of supporting sporting ecosystems, the Company now aims to extend a similar long-term developmental approach to football.
The initiative seeks to empower football audiences to participate directly in supporting talent discovery and athlete development, making football viewership on Zee5 a contributor to the future of Indian football.
The Company’s partnership with FIFA until 2034 further reflects its ambition to strengthen football development in India and leverage global best practices in areas including talent identification, league creation, player development and coaching infrastructure.
Leveraging subscriber contributions, Zee plans to build structured training initiatives and create scalable league formats across city, district, state and national levels to establish a stronger talent pipeline. The Company also intends to onboard leading football personalities as domain experts and collaborate with football federations globally, along with national and state-level sporting associations, to accelerate grassroots participation and development.
The initiative is designed to ensure that opportunities reach aspiring footballers across every corner of the country while encouraging football as a viable long-term career path for Indian youth.

Speaking about this decision, Punit Goenka, Chief Executive Officer, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. said, “India has a large, untapped reserve of football talent that harbors immense potential to compete at a global stage. As a responsible industry stakeholder and the home of football in India, it is our commitment to build a sustainable and conducive environment that nurtures the development of football in a holistic manner. Through this initiative, we are enabling our football viewers to invest in the dreams of countless young Indians who aspire to play the beautiful game at a global stage. Our efforts aim to blend passion with opportunity and translate engagement into impact. With this initiative, we envision India firmly on the global football map, led by our future generations.”
Through structured grassroots leagues and talent development programs, the Company aims to create a unified and inclusive football ecosystem capable of producing globally competitive teams.
With this long-term vision, Zee and the football community on Zee5 aspire to help India build competitive Men’s and Women’s football teams across age groups with the ambition of participating in the FIFA World Cup by 2034.
Inspired by the spirit of youth empowerment and the values championed by Swami Vivekananda, the initiative seeks to promote football as a platform to build discipline, confidence and opportunity for the next generation while strengthening the foundations for the sport’s growth in India.
