Mumbai: Netflix has strengthened its advertising and brand partnerships leadership in Asia-Pacific with the appointment of Kumar Kanagasabapathy as Director, Brand Partnerships, APAC, marking his return to a client-side role after more than seven years at IPG Mediabrands.
Based in Singapore, Kanagasabapathy will spearhead the streaming giant’s brand partnerships strategy across the Asia-Pacific region, as Netflix continues to deepen collaborations with advertisers and brands amid the rapid growth of its ad-supported business.
Kanagasabapathy announced the career move in a LinkedIn post, confirming the end of his tenure at IPG Mediabrands, where he most recently served as APAC Chief Strategy Officer. His departure also concludes a brief six-month stint with Omnicom Media following organisational changes.
Reflecting on his journey, he thanked colleagues across multiple markets, including Los Angeles, Singapore, Mumbai and Mexico City, crediting them for shaping his thinking and contributing to projects throughout his career.
Drawing on more than two decades of industry experience, Kanagasabapathy said he has learned that strong ideas thrive through collaboration and continuous refinement. He added that he is excited to bring those learnings to Netflix, where he will help brands become part of stories that resonate with audiences.
The appointment comes as streaming platforms increasingly invest in brand integration and advertising partnerships to diversify revenue streams and strengthen engagement with marketers across global markets.
Before joining Netflix, Kanagasabapathy held senior leadership roles across some of the advertising industry’s leading networks, including Mediacom, Horizon Media and Maxus, building extensive experience in media strategy, planning and brand growth.
