Mumbai: The National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX) has announced that Vikas Goel has assumed charge as its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, effective August 1, 2026. He succeeds Dr. Arun Raste, whose tenure as MD & CEO concluded on June 6, 2026, and was subsequently extended until July 31, 2026, to ensure a smooth leadership transition.
Goel joins NCDEX with over three decades of experience across treasury, global markets, fixed income and financial market operations. Prior to this appointment, he served as Managing Director & CEO of PNB Gilts Limited from February 2019 to December 2024, where he played a key role in expanding the company’s business and positioning it as the country’s second-largest primary dealer in government securities. During his tenure, he also served as Chairman of the Board of the Primary Dealers Association of India.
Over the course of his career, Goel has held senior leadership positions at leading domestic and international financial institutions, including First Abu Dhabi Bank and National Bank of Abu Dhabi as Executive Director & Head of Global Markets, South Asia, Crédit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank as Executive Director & Head of Global Markets Division, India, and American Express Bank Ltd., where he held multiple senior roles across treasury and trading functions.
An MBA in Finance and Marketing from the Fisher College of Business, The Ohio State University, Goel also holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree from Shri Ram College of Commerce, University of Delhi.
Goel takes over the leadership of NCDEX at a significant phase in the exchange’s growth journey as it prepares to diversify beyond commodities with its proposed entry into the equity and equity derivatives segment. The exchange is also focused on expanding its recently launched Mutual Fund Transaction Platform, broadening its commodity derivatives portfolio, and introducing weather derivatives, positioning itself for the next phase of growth and innovation under the new leadership.
