Chennai: Tamil media powerhouse Ananda Vikatan is set to host the Nambikkai Awards 2024 on April 26, 2025, at Kalaivanar Arangam, Chennai, spotlighting 21 remarkable individuals whose silent yet transformative contributions are creating a lasting impact across diverse sectors in India.
Positioned as a tribute to unsung heroes, the Nambikkai Awards honour changemakers from grassroots innovators and social reformers to cultural custodians and technology pioneers. This year’s ceremony will particularly recognize the extraordinary legacy of Comrade R. Nallakannu, who will receive the prestigious ‘Perunthamizhar’ Award for his lifelong service as a freedom fighter and public servant. At 100 years old, Nallakannu continues to inspire generations with his values of integrity and social justice.
The awards are divided into two key categories: Top 10 Changemakers and Top 10 Young Changemakers, representing a broad spectrum of impactful work—from healthcare access and education reform to women’s empowerment and creative excellence.
Among the top honourees are initiatives such as Naan Mudhalvan Thittam, which strengthens citizen-government dialogue; individuals like Advocate Lokanathan, known for his fearless pursuit of justice; and organizations like Kannagi Nagar First Generation Learning Centre, driving first-generation education. Also recognized are trailblazing personalities including actor Harish Kalyan, cricket star Kamalini, aerospace innovator Agnishwar Jayaprakash, and transgender advocate Sindhu Ganapathy.
