Bajaj Electricals’ Eighth edition of Pinkathon Mumbai to be held on 15th December 2019

Mumbai: Bajaj Electricals Ltd., a globally renowned and India’s leading consumer products company is the title sponsor of Pinkathon since last year. Anuj Poddar, Executive Director, Bajaj Electricals Ltd.said” “We are glad to associate with Pinkathon for the second consecutive year as the title sponsors. We, as a company, believe in supporting events that have the ability to bring a positive change in society and resonate with our brand values of “Inspiring people”. While our long association with Pinkathon has given us an opportunity to communicate our brand story well, it has also acted as a catalyst in empowering women and to drive them to embrace who they are both internally and externally.”

Committed to inspire women through meaningful stories and initiatives, India’s leading entertainment channel, COLORS continue to extend its support to the Pinkathon as the Presenting Partner. On the occasion said, Nina Elavia Jaipuria – Head, Hindi Mass Entertainment and Kids TV Network, Viacom18, “Initiatives like Pinkathon encourage women to promote fitness and create awareness about issues like breast cancer, which they usually shy away from. As a brand, COLORS has always celebrated and brought women at the forefront with compelling content and stimulating characters. With this association, the aim is to continue inspiring women to be the ambassadors of change and drive millions across the country to opt for a healthy lifestyle.”

Expressing delight on the launch of the 8th edition of Pinkathon Mumbai, Founder, Milind Soman, Pinkathon said, “When I thought of creating a running event for women in 2011, it was only because as a runner I saw very few women at running events and wondered if it would be different if there was a run exclusively for them. With the 51st Pinkathon, what is now India’s biggest women’s run, over the last 8 years, I have discovered just how different it would be! Women took to Pinkathon in a big way right from the start. The team learnt from every edition and every city. We wanted to understand what was stopping women from participating, and the responses helped create many new and exciting experiences, India’s first saree run and cycle rally, the first women only half marathon, the first visually impaired women’s squad, the treks for cancer survivors and the baby wearing walks. The participants have transformed the run into a community and a social movement with thousands of women inspiring each other by example. Nobody is left behind. Not the very young or even the very old, not pregnant women, not the women in hijabs and sarees, not the women with young babies, not the visually impaired or the cancer survivors. They all came together making each edition in every city a festival like no other. Dancing and singing, walking and running, cheering and laughing in a fantastic celebration of womanhood. With every year the community and its needs have gotten bigger”

Soman further added that “More events and experiences have been added to motivate and engage, like the 100 days of Pinkathon and the Pinkathon 100k run, India’s biggest women’s ultra marathon. Pinkathon day was celebrated for the second time this year, in several countries across the world, in 176 locations and with 25000 people participating. The Spirit of Pinkathon, a 150km run between cities, is all about self belief, and after their first couple of years at Pinkathon, hundreds of women have started to train for it. We hear more and more stories of lives that have changed for the better, diseases of mind and body that have been conquered. It is a matter of pride for the entire community. Like the women of Pinkathon themselves, Pinkathon has become unstoppable, and limitless. The 8th edition and 51st Pinkathon will be celebrated in Mumbai and it will be a beautiful moment, as all the moments have been for the last 8 years. Where do we go from here? As big as it seems, Pinkathon is still a small step towards a healthier and fitter society driven by women. There is a long way to go. But change is coming, the women of Pinkathon are awake, and they will not stop. It is time.”

Pond’s SkinFit: “Being physically Fit includes taking care of your skin as well. I am happy to be associated with Ponds India who has recognized the need for the Skin care range specialized for Fitness Enthusiasts.

The Pond’s Skinfit is a high-performance skincare range for Fitness Enthusiasts. The Range has Pre & Post-workout products. This skin care regime gives you a perfect post workout glow which is a sign of a healthy skin.”

Reema Sanghavi, Co-Founder Pinkathon & Managing Director, Maximus MICE & Media Solutions Pvt. Ltd said, “At the onset, I would like to acknowledge all our partners for their extended support to further the larger cause of Pinkathon in India. Pinkathon was organised so far at Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Kathmandu, Chennai, Delhi, Pune and Guwahati in 2019. We are looking forward to the 8th edition of Mumbai. We are committed & connected for one cause – ‘health for every woman’. Pinkathon inspires everyone who believe that together, we can do more. Various initiatives are undertaken for women across various strata of the society. The idea is to encourage health & fitness at every age. We would like more women to take up their health seriously and participate this year. This is being done to encourage fitness for all women and promote the message of “Har ghar mein Pinkathon” which basically revolves around the idea of fit women = fit families = fit society and hence a fit nation.”

The run has 50 plus hearing-impaired girls for VWash Plus 3 km category and more than 100 visually impaired girls participating in different run categories. To prepare them for the main day, unique training sessions are being designed with the help and coordination of sighted runners. Special trainings for the main day will be organized in Mumbai for the registered participants who have requested training.

As a precursor to the main day, Pinkathon team will be organising unique events such as the Cancer Shero Trek for the cancer conquerors, 5 km midnight Reclaim The Night Run, baby wearing mother walk and Zumba for the hearing impaired. As one-of-a-kind initiative, every single participant of Pinkathon Mumbai 2019 can choose to avail a free health check-up from our healthcare partner Motherhood Hospitals or a free Mammogram if the participant is above 45 yrs of age, the same is also transferrable.

The focus of India’s biggest women’s only running event, is to encourage an active lifestyle and overall fitness amongst women, while creating a much-needed awareness about breast cancer and bone health and encourage thousands of new or first-timer women to take up running. All proceeds raised from the event will be used for the expenses incurred in organizing and marketing the event, and by the Women’s Cancer Initiative in its fight against breast cancer.
