Dentsu names Ajay Gupte as Chief Operating Officer, South Asia

Mumbai: Dentsu has appointed Ajay Gupte as Chief Operating Officer for South Asia as the marketing and communications network sharpens its focus on integrated growth and business transformation across the region.

In his new role, Gupte will work closely with Harsha Razdan, Chief Executive Officer, South Asia, to drive the company’s strategic priorities, strengthen its operating model and accelerate its transformation agenda. The appointment is part of dentsu’s broader strategy to build an integrated, client-centric organisation that combines strategy, creativity, media, data and technology to deliver measurable business outcomes in an AI-powered landscape.

As COO, Gupte will lead initiatives aimed at improving operational excellence, enhancing cross-network collaboration and building a more agile organisation. He will also work with the South Asia leadership team to execute strategic priorities, strengthen client-centric ways of working and expand dentsu’s integrated Marketing, Technology and Consulting capabilities under its Business to Business to Society (B2B2S) framework.

Gupte brings nearly three decades of experience across media, marketing, digital transformation and client solutions. Most recently, he served as President, Client Solutions at WPP Media South Asia and Chief Executive Officer of Wavemaker South Asia. Over the course of his career, which also includes leadership roles at TVS Motors and OMD, he has led large-scale business transformation programmes, built high-performing teams and advised leading brands across the region.
