Mumbai: FanCode has secured exclusive TV and digital rights for the upcoming Women’s Tri-Nation ODI series featuring India, Sri Lanka, and South Africa. Set to take place at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, the series will commence on April 27, with India taking on Sri Lanka in the opening match. The final is scheduled for May 11.
The tournament will see each team face off twice in a round-robin format, with the top two progressing to the final. This marks the return of the Indian women’s team to competitive action following a six-game winning streak, and fans can look forward to seeing star players such as captain Harmanpreet Kaur, vice-captain Smriti Mandhana, Harleen Deol, Jemimah Rodrigues, and Richa Ghosh in action. Promising young talent Kashvee Gautam has also earned her maiden call-up after an impressive domestic season.
India will be aiming to continue their strong track record in Sri Lanka, having lost only once in the country and never having lost a series. However, they will face tough competition from South Africa, Women’s ODI World Cup semi-finalists, and a strong Sri Lankan team who recently bested India in the Asia Cup.
South Africa will be led by Laura Wolvaardt and will feature a mix of experienced players like Chloé Tryon, Tazmin Brits, Ayabonga Khaka, Suné Luus, and Nonkululeko Mlaba, along with emerging talents. Meanwhile, Asia Cup Champions Sri Lanka see the tournament as an essential platform to gear up for the upcoming ICC Women’s World Cup to be held in India later this year.
Speaking about the broadcast, SLC CEO Ashley De Silva said, “We welcome FanCode as the official broadcaster of the upcoming Women’s Tri-Nation Series for fans.
