The first Sunday in the month of August is celebrated as Friendship Day, a day that reminds and encourages people to connect and re-connect with their friends around the world.

Friendships arrive in different forms, and the meaning of the term evolves with the course of life and time. Our perspective about the whole wide world expands with the arrival of each new friend. We grow and widen our perspectives through friendships.

For this year’s friendship day, brands, as usual, have come up with campaigns and wishes in different formats. Let us see a few of them.

Disney India

This Friendship Day, Disney India took the opportunity to celebrate the magical bond of friendship. The social media post is a tribute to everyone out there who would go to the world’s end for the love of their friendship. The video is an amalgamation of all the sweet instances that friends share with each other.

Nickelodeon

Nickelodeon has bigger celebration plans with its latest initiative #ToastYourDost. Represented by Nick toons, #ToastYourDost will give its young viewers a chance to celebrate the entire month of August as a massive ode to friendship with banter between friends, pranks, and a whole lot of fun.

Kick-starting the month-long celebration from 1st August on Friendship Day and going all the way till 3rd September, Nickelodeon will premiere a fun initiative that will see a hilarious and first-of-its-kind #ToastYourDost online awards come to life.  The fun awards fueling the friendly and cheeky banter between friends will include categories like Chindi Friend, Selfie Obsessed Soul, Lazy Daizy, Late Lateef, Biggest Bhukkad, Biggest Ditcher, and many more.  The 12 award categories will give an opportunity to its young viewers to choose a toasting template and add the name of the friend and a reason to toast that dost. All one must do is login onto Nickindia.com and go on to “Toast Your Dost”.

In addition to that Nickelodeon will also bring to life a fun on-air campaign where millions of kids can watch episodes of their favorite toon BFFs like Rudra, Motu Patlu and Golmaal Jr., and participate in a contest giving them a fabulous opportunity to win cool and coveted gaming consoles.  The console is ideal for kids to spend time with their friends and enjoy many fun moments of toasting their dost’s along the way.

SBI Life Insurance

In the run-up to International Friendship Day, SBI Life Insurance sent out a series of tweets wishing its peers in a unique way. The Friendship Day messages lit up Twitter timelines, as netizens were amused to see all the other Life Insurers of the country respond with friendly gestures. The friendship day conversations underscore the insurers shared goal of making India financially immune through universal insurance coverage for all.

Life insurance is one of the most reliable tools to secure the future of your loved ones, even in your absence. The pandemic has especially led to an increase in awareness on the role of insurance to protect your loved ones and provide them with a financial safety net in a difficult time. Despite this, the life insurance penetration is in low single digits. It is thus the collective aim of all life insurers to increase the proportion of insured Indians and help them fulfill their promise of protection to their families.

Through this campaign, SBI Life urges its peers to continue working towards this goal and reminds them that they are all in this together. The initiative has already triggered a series of positive conversations among its industry peers and other social media users. Other life insurers have responded to SBI Life’s message with equal warmth and acknowledged the need to proactively work towards building a well-insured and financially secure nation.

Zee Thirai

Zee Thirai recently launched a Friendship Day special promo starring Ashwin Kumar, who not only takes center stage and owns the screen with his performance but also unveils the channel’s surprise for the viewers. From providing non-stop entertainment to engaging with fans on their social media platforms, the channel has gone all out in interacting with its viewers.

Sennheiser

Celebrating the spirit of friendship day, Sennheiser, a German audio giant in collaboration with leading brands such as Canon, MG Motor, Costa Coffee, Britannia (Bourbon), amongst others, announced the #SENNsationalCrew campaign. The campaign #SENNsationalCrew was aimed at showcasing how brands have become an integral part of a consumer’s life through engagement on social media platforms, thus becoming buddies

Zee Café X Comedy Central India

In line with the Indian Television Premiere of FRIENDS: The Reunion on Zee Café, Comedy Central India and Zee Café had an interesting brand moment on Twitter.

This Friendship’s Day, Sony YAY! has teamed up with 99 Pancakes -India’s first brand to introduce mini pancakes- to launch a limited-edition Honey Bunny Dosti Special Combo. The combo will be available from 1st-31st August 2021 across all outlets pan India.

ALTBalaji X Zouk :

ALTBalaji has signed a collaboration deal with one of the emerging fashion & lifestyle bag store, Zouk. The collaboration entails ALTBalaji gifting their media friends and influencers exclusive premium products from Zouk on account of Friendship Day. The purpose of the association is to express gratitude and love for the media and social media family through Zouk’s best-selling products of all time.

House of Hiranandani

In the current times of pandemic, when people have been locked in their homes, meeting friends and family has been a virtual affair. The only real companion we had were our pets. Spending time and taking care of them, was one of the biggest engagements during these times.

Building on this idea, Tonic Worldwide conceptualized the campaign “Furry Friends of HOH”, a music video that featured the residents of House of Hiranandani and their pets. This not only gave a peek into the life at House of Hiranandani, but also showed the deep friendship their residents shared with their pets.
