Mumbai: Amazon Ads has announced the appointment of Gulshan Verma as its new Director, marking a significant leadership addition as the tech giant accelerates its advertising ambitions in India. Verma brings with him a wealth of experience spanning digital media, ad tech, content, and data-driven marketing.
Prior to joining Amazon Ads, Verma served as the Chief Executive Officer of JioAds, where he spearheaded the platform’s business operations across connectivity, content, and commerce. Under his leadership, JioAds scaled its advertising offerings, integrating deep consumer insights with commerce-led solutions.
Before his stint at JioAds, Verma was Senior Vice President and Head of Advertising at Disney+ Hotstar. There, he was instrumental in building and scaling Hotstar’s ad business. He led end-to-end functions including sales, strategy, ad operations, AdTech and data partnerships, branded content (Hotstar Brand Lab), and customer marketing. His efforts played a key role in establishing Hotstar as a leading destination for digital advertisers, particularly during marquee properties like the IPL and premium OTT content.
From 2015 to 2018, Verma served as the Chief Revenue Officer at Times Internet, where he oversaw monetization across a broad portfolio of digital products. Earlier in his career, he held senior leadership positions at Outbrain, Komli Media, and Yahoo India, contributing to the evolution of India’s early digital ecosystem.
He also brings a foundation in analytics and strategic consulting from his early roles at EY and McKinsey & Company.
Verma’s appointment at Amazon Ads comes at a time when the company is expanding its footprint in the Indian advertising landscape, leveraging its strong ecommerce, video, and audio ecosystem to offer performance-driven marketing solutions to brands.
With a proven track record in building high-performance advertising businesses, Verma is expected to play a key role in shaping Amazon Ads’ next phase of growth in one of its most dynamic markets.
