The New Season of the Popular American political thriller series Homeland has been made available online via authenticated streaming and on-demand platforms much ahead of its official debut on Channel Showtime on 15th January 2017.
As of today, episode one from season six is available for all Showtime subscribers to watch on the streaming service, the OTT app, Hulu or on-demand. The surprise online release comes a full 17 days before the linear premiere.
Season six picks up as Carrie (Claire Danes) returns home to the U.S. to work as an advocate for Muslim Americans. The season will follow the after effects of the U.S. presidential election, which in the show was won by female candidate Elizabeth Keane (Elizabeth Marvel). The events of season six are set between Election Day and the inauguration.

It premiered on 2nd October 2011. The first episode was made available online, more than two weeks before the television broadcast, with viewers having to complete game tasks to gain access.
The fifth season took place two years after the previous and is set in Berlin, Germany, with Carrie no longer an intelligence officer and working as head of security for a private charitable foundation and its billionaire owner.
Now the Sixth season of Homeland is taking place several months after the previous season, Carrie is back in the United States, living in Brooklyn, New York. She is now working at a foundation whose efforts are to provide aid to Muslims living in the United States. The season features a presidential election, and takes place between Election Day and inauguration day.
