London: Radiocentre has appointed Jo Verrill as its new Head of Advertising Clearance, strengthening its advertising compliance leadership with an industry veteran who brings more than 25 years of experience in media, broadcasting and advertising regulation.
In her new role, Verrill will lead Radiocentre’s advertising clearance team, which reviews tens of thousands of radio scripts annually to ensure advertisements comply with legal, ethical and regulatory standards before going on air.
The team plays a key role in ensuring radio advertising is legal, decent, honest and truthful, while helping advertisers, agencies and production companies comply with the BCAP Code of Broadcast Advertising and the Ofcom Broadcasting Code. It also advises on advertising carried across Radiocentre members’ digital platforms under the CAP Code.
Verrill joined Radiocentre as an Advertising Clearance Consultant in October 2025. Prior to this, she advised on regulatory matters for radio, television and streaming platforms, working with organisations including ITV, Samsung, MTV and Clearcast. She also served as Head of Compliance at Global, where she led compliance strategy across the broadcaster’s national and regional radio brands.
She succeeds Yvonne Kintoff, who is retiring after 30 years with Radiocentre. Kintoff established radio’s first dedicated advertising clearance service, the Radio Advertising Clearance Centre (RACC), in 1996, which later evolved into Radiocentre’s current clearance operation. She also led the organisation’s expansion into digital audio advertising compliance in 2019.

Commenting on the appointment, Matt Payton, CEO, Radiocentre, said, “We’re delighted that Jo will be leading our advertising clearance team. She brings exceptional experience in her field, as well as a broad understanding of the needs of broadcasters, advertisers and agencies.
Maintaining the trust our listeners place in commercial radio is vital, and our clearance service plays an important role in ensuring audio advertising continues to meet the highest standards. Jo is ideally placed to build on Yvonne’s high standards from the past three decades. We thank Yvonne for her dedication and wish her a very happy retirement.”
Speaking about her new role, Jo Verrill said, “I’m delighted to be joining Radiocentre clearance at such an exciting moment of growth and innovation. The industry benefits every day from the depth of knowledge, judgement and commitment within Radiocentre clearance and I am honoured to be leading such an exceptional team.”
Reflecting on her tenure, Yvonne Kintoff said, “From the start, our remit was simple: to get trusted radio ads on air quickly, with minimum hassle. The team embraced that mission and ran with it ever since. You can’t ask for more.”
