Chennai: Indian Council for Media, Entertainment & Gaming, a non-profit organisation focused on strengthening India’s creative economy, has officially launched its Tamil Nadu Chapter at IITM Research Park, marking a significant step towards supporting the region’s rapidly evolving media and entertainment landscape.
The launch event also witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between ICMEG and the Tamil Nadu AI Association, aimed at fostering collaboration across media, entertainment, gaming, and artificial intelligence-led innovation.
The event brought together senior executives, media professionals, and members of the Tamil Film Producers Council to deliberate on emerging opportunities in vertical cinema, micro dramas, policy advocacy, intellectual property (IP) protection, and skill development tailored to Tamil Nadu’s growing creative ecosystem.
Organised in partnership with TNAIA and supported by industry stakeholders including ProducerBazaar and IP Climb, the initiative aims to create stronger frameworks for creators navigating the digital-first content economy.
The launch featured panel discussions focusing on artificial intelligence in production, the rise of short-form and vertical content, IP rights management, and emerging monetisation models for creators and production houses.
Industry leaders participating in the discussions included Sai Krishna, Vice President – Eenadu Television Pvt Ltd; Surya N, Content Head – SUN NXT; Dr. Afrose Fathima, Executive Producer – Zee Bullet; Rajan Ethiraja, Chief Business Officer at Phantom Media Group; Kavitha Pandian, Media Director and Producer at Vels Film International Ltd; and J Lakshman, Director & Cinematographer – MFI. The sessions were moderated by Venkatesh Rajendran, Founder – TNAIA Council, and GK Tirunavukarasu, Founder and CEO – FipChain Technology Pvt Ltd.
The initiative received support from leading media and entertainment companies including Zee Bullet, SUN NXT, ETV Win, ETV, PhantomFX, and Vels Film International.
“Tamil Nadu stands at the forefront of media innovation and cultural storytelling in India,” noted Venkatesh Rajendran, Founder – TNAIA Council, who will head the Tamil Nadu Chapter of ICMEG. He added: “By establishing a dedicated local chapter, ICMEG aims to provide Tamil producers and creators with direct access to global best practices, robust IP protection mechanisms, and a shared platform to unlock fresh digital revenue streams.”

The event concluded with an interactive networking session where producers and technology innovators explored potential collaborative projects aimed at enhancing the global reach and quality of Tamil cinema and digital content.
