Indexed Ad Volumes/channel on Television dropped by 3% in Jan-June 2024: TAM AdEx

Mumbai: Indexed Ad Volumes/channel on Television dropped by 3% in Jan-June 2024 over Jan-June 2023. Food & Beverage Sector topped with 24% during Jan-June 2024. Toilet Soaps led the categories during the first half of 2024. Rubs And Balms was the new entrant among the Top 10.

Tam has published its AdEx-Half Yearly Report on Television Advertising Jan-June 2024. Milk Beverages was the top grown category in terms of Ad Volumes in Jan-June 2024 over Jan-June 2023. FMCG players dominated the list of Top 10 advertisers with HUL leading the list.

Five out of the Top 10 brands were from Reckitt Benckiser and 2 brands from HUL during Jan-June 2024. During Jan-June 2024, GEC outperformed News channels as the leading genre for advertising, similar to the same period in 2023. The top five channels genres accounted for more than 90% share of TV Ad Volumes during both Jan-June 2023 and Jan-June 2024.

‘Food & Beverages’- The Leading Sector with 24% share of Ad Volumes:

– In Jan-June 2024, ‘Food & Beverage’ (24%) was on top followed by ‘Personal Care/Personal Hygiene’ sector with 16% share.

– ‘BFSI’ is the only new entered sector in top 10 list during Jan-June 2024.

– The Top 10 Sectors contributed nearly 90% of the ad volume share in Jan-June 2024.

‘Toilet Soaps’ led the categories during H1, 2024

– The Top 10 categories together added 32% share of ad volumes in Jan-June 2024.

– In the period from Jan-June 2024, the categories ranked 3rd, 7th, 8th, and 9th showed a positive shift in rank compared to the same period in 2023.

– ‘Rubs And Balms’ was the new entrant among the Top 10 categories during Jan-June 2024.

– Categories on Rank 3, 7 and 10 were from the ‘Food & Beverages’ sector.

Top Growing Categories : 160+ Categories registered Positive Growth

– ‘Milk Beverages’ category saw the highest increase in Ad secondages with growth of 24% followed by ‘Rubs And Balms’ with 40% growth during Jan-June 2024 compared to Jan-June 2023.

Leading Advertisers: FMCG Players dominated the top 10 list 

– ‘HUL’ topped the list followed by ‘Reckitt’ during Jan-June 2024.

– The Top 10 advertisers together added 45% share of Ad Volumes during Jan-June 2024.

– ‘Reliance Jio Infocomm’ observed a positive rank shift along with ITC and Wipro.

‘Harpic Power Plus 10x Advanced’ was the top brand on TV during Jan-Jun’24 

– During Jan-June 2024, a total of 7.8K+ brands were present on Television.

– Five out of the Top 10 brands were from ‘Reckitt Benckiser’ and two were from ‘HUL’.

The Top 5 Channel Genres Jan-June 2024 : GEC and News had 57% of Ad Volumes

– During Jan-June 2024, ‘GEC’ outperformed ‘News’ channels as the leading genre for advertising, similar to same period in 2023.

– The top five channels genres accounted for more than 90% share of Ad Volumes during both Jan-June 2024 and Jan-June 2023.
