JetSynthesys powers up GEPL Season 2, raises stakes with ₹3.05 cr prize pool

New Delhi: JetSynthesys has officially unveiled Season 2 of the Global e-Cricket Premier League (GEPL)—India’s most prominent and premium e-cricket tournament. With a significantly enhanced ₹3.05 crore prize pool, GEPL Season 2 builds upon the momentum of its inaugural edition and is set to bring fans an action-packed experience from April 27 to May 2, 2025, in Bengaluru.

Powered by the widely popular Real Cricket™ game, which boasts over 350 million downloads, GEPL is structured around a team-based esports format that seamlessly fuses the thrill of real-world cricket with high-stakes digital gaming. The second edition will feature 34 matches (30 league and 4 playoff games), promising a week of nail-biting competition and entertainment.

Speaking on the announcement, Rajan Navani, Founder and CEO of JetSynthesys, said, “With GEPL Season 2, we’re expanding the possibilities of how cricket can be experienced and celebrated in the digital era. With marquee names, fresh ownership, and a growing interest and participation, this season is a massive leap forward for Indian esports.”

Adding to that, Rohit Potphode, CEO & League Commissioner of GEPL and President – Esports at JetSynthesys, commented, “This league is all about building a strong and viable future for competitive gaming in India. Season 2 brings together talent, technology, and vision — creating a platform that’s exciting, aspirational, and made for today’s generation of players and fans.”

GEPL Season 2 kicked off with a thrilling Player Auction on April 3, where six franchises operated within a ₹10 lakh purse—₹2 lakh reserved for marquee players (assigned via a spin-the-wheel format) and ₹8 lakh for seven additional players per team. Player categories (A, B, and C) ranged in base price from ₹30,000 to ₹1,00,000, ensuring strategic bidding and balanced team formation.

The auction witnessed Jagdish Kumar becoming the highest-bid player at ₹2.9 lakh, while teams like Mumbai Grizzlies, Chennai Falcons, Delhi Sharks, and Bengaluru Badgers emerged with formidable and balanced squads. In total, ₹56.65 lakh was spent out of a potential ₹60 lakh, underscoring the competitive spirit of the franchises.

GEPL Season 2 is backed by a diverse and dynamic set of franchise owners from across industries:

  • Delhi: Peyush Bansal (Co-founder & CEO, Lenskart)
  • Bengaluru: Nikhil Kamath (Zerodha), Ankit Nagori (Curefoods), and Prashanth Prakash (Accel)
  • Chennai: Gopal Srinivasan (TVS Capital Funds), Madhusudanan R (M2P Fintech), Arjun Santhanakrishnan (GS Global)
  • Mumbai: Sara Tendulkar, making her esports debut

This new ownership group brings not just capital but also cultural and entrepreneurial influence, helping to advance GEPL’s mission of creating a sustainable and high-impact esports ecosystem.

Following its successful debut, GEPL has seen a 5x increase in player registrations, growing from 200,000 in Season 1 to 910,000 for Season 2. The league recorded a multiplatform reach of over 70 million and over 2.4 million minutes of streamed content last season—cementing its place as a formidable force in the Indian gaming and digital cricket scene.

With revamped team formats, innovative auction dynamics, marquee player engagement, and high-octane gameplay, GEPL Season 2 is primed to push the boundaries of cricket esports in India.
