Sydney: WPP has appointed Mihir Bhatt as Chief Financial Officer of WPP Australia & New Zealand, expanding his leadership responsibilities while he continues to serve as Chief Financial Officer of WPP Media Australia & New Zealand.
Bhatt announced the appointment in a LinkedIn post, describing the role as an exciting new chapter after five years leading the finance function at WPP Media.
“I’m pleased to share that I’ve been appointed Chief Financial Officer of WPP Australia & New Zealand,” Bhatt wrote.
Reflecting on his tenure at WPP Media, he credited the company’s leadership and teams for their collective achievements.
“Over the past five years as CFO of WPP Media, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside an exceptional Executive Team and so many talented people across our business. I’m immensely proud of what we’ve achieved together—driving growth, shaping our business for the future and continuing to create value for our clients,” he said.
Bhatt added that he is looking forward to taking on broader responsibilities across WPP while continuing in his current finance leadership role at WPP Media.
“I’m genuinely excited to now take on this broader responsibility across WPP, while continuing in my role as CFO of WPP Media. The opportunity to work more closely with our agencies and leadership teams across the wider business is one I’m really looking forward to,” he said.
He also thanked WPP leaders Aimee Buchanan, Ali Broker, Rose Herceg, and Andrew Kochar for their confidence and support.
“I’m excited about what lies ahead and incredibly proud to be taking on this next chapter with WPP,” Bhatt added.
With more than 18 years of experience in the media and advertising industry, Bhatt leads the financial strategy and commercial operations for one of the region’s largest media and advertising groups. His experience spans strategic financial management, commercial finance, finance transformation, business strategy, and governance, risk management and compliance (GRC).
In his LinkedIn profile, Bhatt said his work sits at the intersection of finance, strategy and business transformation, with a focus on building financially resilient and scalable organisations by combining disciplined financial management with commercial insight, data and technology.
He noted that throughout his career he has partnered closely with executive leadership teams to drive sustainable growth, improve operational performance and deliver long-term value. His experience includes leading large-scale finance transformation initiatives, strengthening commercial partnerships across complex organisations and building high-performing finance teams.
Highlighting the changing role of finance leaders, Bhatt said he is particularly interested in the impact of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence on business operations.
“As the media landscape evolves rapidly, I’m particularly interested in the role emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, will play in reshaping how businesses operate, make decisions, and create value for clients. I believe finance leaders have an important role in helping organisations harness data, AI, and automation to drive smarter decision-making and competitive advantage,” he wrote.
Alongside his executive responsibilities, Bhatt also serves as Chair of the Finance Committee at the Media Federation of Australia, where he contributes to the financial stewardship and long-term sustainability of the industry.
