Goa: GroupM’s media agency MindShare led the winners tally at Goafest Media Abbys with 11 metals while Madison Media came a close second with 10 awards.
The Media Abbys saw a total of 674 entries this year compared with 619 in 2014. The number of metals given was 74 to 25 agencies, four of which were digital shops. Lodestar UM bagged the highest number of three golds and stood third. Goafest that began on Thursday will end on April 11 at the Grand Hyatt in Bambolim.
No Media Grand Prix was awarded this year. Pratap Bose, president of The Advertising Club, attributed this to the fact that there was no outstanding campaign meriting the prize.
A total of 53 media agencies came forward to participate in the festival this year. The response from the subcontinent was positive as well, with four participating agencies making it to the winners’ list.
According to Nakul Chopra, chairman of Goafest 2015 and vice-president of the Advertising Agencies Association of India, the quality of the work entered by regional agencies was much better this year, with the number of entries exceeding previous years.
Coleman & Co. Ltd (BCCL) bagged six metals. Of the 17 awards that were given away, BCCL’s count was the highest with three golds, two silvers and one bronze. Two of the three golds were won for Times of India’s ‘India Salutes’ and ‘Happy Streets’ campaigns, while the third was for Mumbai Mirror’s campaign ‘I am Mumbai’.
The two silvers went to Times of India’s ‘Fifa World Cup 2014 Special Super-Panorama Centre Spread’ and ‘Rise Up’ campaigns, while the bronze was for Maharashtra Times’ ‘Maharashtra Times Culture Club’. The total number of entries for the Publisher Awards was 62, the same as in the 2014 Goafest edition.
