Mumbai: After a record-breaking year for South Indian content on its platform, Netflix has announced an exciting new slate of six Tamil and Telugu originals — spanning thrillers, comedies, dramas, and romances — further deepening its commitment to championing diverse stories from across India.
In 2024, Vijay Sethupathi-starrer Maharaja became Netflix’s most-watched Indian film globally, while Dulquer Salmaan’s Lucky Baskhar stayed in India’s Top 10 for 14 weeks. With titles like Pushpa 2, Amaran, Leo, and Devara dominating global non-English Top 10 lists, Netflix continues to amplify the voice of South Indian storytellers. Building on the success of TEST and The Game: You Never Play Alone, the streaming giant now introduces six all-new originals that promise to thrill, move, and entertain audiences worldwide.

Monika Shergill, Vice President, Content, Netflix India, said, “We are excited and deeply committed to championing stories from the South across languages, cultures, and states. From our early originals to a diverse slate of films following their theatrical releases, the richness of storytelling from this region has been a cornerstone of our growth. We are now excited to bring the next wave of original stories, shaped in collaboration with emerging voices from Tamil and Telugu cinema spanning gritty thrillers, comedies, rooted dramas, and cross-cultural romances, offering both depth and breadth. It has been an inspiring journey working alongside the creative community, and we look forward to sharing these stories with our audiences.”
The new Tamil and Telugu lineup includes:
- Stephen (Tamil) – A psychological thriller directed by Mithun and starring Gomathi Shankar, delving into the chilling mind of a self-confessed killer under psychiatric evaluation that spirals into a dark, mind-bending mystery.
- Super Subbu (Telugu) – A comedy of errors directed by Mallik Ram, starring Sandeep Kishan as an unlikely teacher assigned to give sex education lessons in a remote village — despite being hilariously unqualified.
- #Love (Tamil) – Directed by Balaji Mohan and starring Arjun Das and Aishwarya Lekshmi, this refreshing modern romance explores chemistry, compatibility, and connection with a blend of humour and heart.
- Made in Korea (Tamil) – A cross-cultural drama by Ra Karthik, starring Priyanka Mohan and Squid Game’s Park Hye-Jin, about a young woman’s journey of rediscovery after betrayal during a dream trip to Korea.
- Takshakudu (Telugu) – Directed by Vinod Anantoju and starring Anand Devarakonda, this folklore thriller follows a blind man and his loyal dog seeking vengeance for the deaths of his fellow villagers.
- Legacy (Tamil) – A high-stakes gangster drama from Charukesh Sekar featuring R. Madhavan, Nimisha Sajayan, Gautham Karthik, Gulshan Devaiah, and Abhishek Banerjee in a gripping saga of power, succession, and sacrifice.
From nail-biting thrillers and moving dramas to punchy comedies and heartfelt romances, Netflix’s latest lineup celebrates the creative brilliance of Tamil and Telugu cinema — reaffirming its commitment to bold, authentic, and boundary-pushing storytelling.
Following the success of Black Warrant, Dhoom Dhaam, Dabba Cartel, Jewel Thief, TEST, The Royals, The Great Indian Kapil Show, and The Ba**ds of Bollywood*, Netflix continues to champion fresh, fearless narratives from India — this time with a spotlight on the South, home to some of the country’s most powerful and original voices.
