Gurugram: Niva Bupa Health Insurance has announced the elevation of Ishwar Dutt Sharma to the position of Executive Vice President & Head – Talent Academy, reinforcing the company’s commitment to building future-ready talent and strengthening organizational capabilities.
In his expanded role, Sharma will lead Niva Bupa’s talent development and capability-building agenda, with a focus on nurturing leadership pipelines, driving sales and functional excellence, enhancing learning and development initiatives, and fostering a culture of continuous innovation across the organization.
With over two decades of experience in the insurance sector, Sharma brings extensive expertise in learning and development, talent management, sales capability enhancement, distribution excellence, and organizational transformation. Throughout his career, he has led several high-impact initiatives aimed at strengthening workforce capabilities and accelerating business growth.
Having spent more than five years at Niva Bupa Health Insurance, Sharma has played a significant role in advancing the company’s learning and capability-building framework. Through his leadership of the Sales Academy and Distribution Initiatives, he has been instrumental in developing future-focused training programs, nurturing high-potential talent, and implementing transformative learning interventions that have enhanced organizational agility and performance.
His efforts have contributed to fostering a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and excellence, enabling teams to adapt to evolving market dynamics while supporting the company’s growth ambitions.
Prior to this elevation, Sharma served as National Head – Developed Markets, where he successfully drove operational excellence, strengthened market performance, and delivered sustained business growth. His strategic approach to people development, planning, and execution has earned him recognition as a respected leader within the organization.
Before joining Niva Bupa, Sharma held key positions at Apollo Munich Health Insurance Company Ltd. (now HDFC ERGO), Bajaj Allianz General Insurance, and Royal Sundaram General Insurance Co. Limited. During his tenure with these organizations, he gained extensive experience across sales, distribution management, learning and development, and business transformation initiatives.
