New Delhi : Star India will broadcast the second season of Pro Kabaddi League in five languages across eight channels.

The second season of Pro Kabaddi League by Star Sports, which kicks off on 18th July 2015, will be telecast in English, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada and Marathi across the Star network.

While the Hindi and English feed will be given in the Star Sports Channel itself, the Regional Languages like Telugu, Kannada and Marathi language feed will be given in their secondary GECs in the respective markets, without disturbing the programming line-up of their primary GEC channels.

“Season one of the Star Sports PKL saw us successfully establish Kabaddi in the mainstream, breaking it out of its hinterland niche and transforming it into a sport enjoyed just as much by an urban audience. We want to build on this success in the second season and broaden Kabaddi’s appeal even further by taking it closer to fans in different parts of the country. This move is further sign of our commitment to the growth of Kabaddi and our broader goal of fostering a multi-sport culture in India,” said a Star India spokesperson.

In its first edition last year, the Kabaddi league was watched by over 435 million viewers nationwide, making it the second most watched sport in the country. The final match of the season recorded a reach of 86.4 million.

Star India was not able to give Telugu feed during the ICC World Cup telecast due to lack of their presence in AP Market. However, the recent deal between Star India and Maa TV has paved way for Star India to offer Telugu feed also. Maa TV Network has Maa Movies, Maa Gold and Maa Music  in its Telugu bouquet and Star India is likely to exploit Maa Movies for airing the Telugu Feed of second season of Pro Kabaddi League.
