Mumbai: Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals Limited has appointed industry veteran Sundaram Damodaran Nair as its Chairman of the Board, effective 18 September 2025, in the capacity of Non-Executive, Non-Independent Director.
The decision was cleared by the Board at its 15 September meeting, acting on the recommendation of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee. His current tenure as Non-Executive, Independent Director and Chairman, which began on 18 September 2020, concludes a day earlier, on 17 September 2025, marking the end of his second consecutive five-year term.
Looking ahead, the Board has further approved Nair’s continuation as an Additional, Non-Executive, Non-Independent Director, subject to shareholder approval. In this capacity, he will serve until reaching the age of 75 on 15 April 2028, with the position being subject to retirement by rotation.
Nair’s professional journey spans more than four decades. He joined Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) in 1975 as a management trainee and went on to hold several key roles, including six years in London. Between 1999 and 2008, he served as Chief Financial Officer, later rising to Vice Chairman and CFO before retiring from HUL in 2009.
Beyond his association with Crompton Greaves, Nair is also on the boards of Infosys, Zurich Kotak General Insurance, and Credila Financial Services, underscoring his continued influence across India’s corporate landscape.
