Sunpure collaborates with the Government for TB-Free India campaign

South India’s largest edible oil brand, Sunpure, today announced its collaboration with the Government of India to strengthen its TB-Free India campaign. The Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, envisioned to bring together all community stakeholders to support those on TB treatment, aims to accelerate the country’s progress towards TB elimination. The plan is to eliminate tuberculosis by 2025, five years ahead of the target set by the UN’s sustainable development goals.

As part of its CSR Program, Sunpure will provide groceries to 17 TB patients in Srirangapatna taluk for a period of six months, starting December 2022. The monthly grocery kits will be distributed to the patients at the Government Hospital in Srirangapatna.

Commenting on the remarkable initiative, Gokaran Singh Pawar, General Manager (Sales & Operations), Sunpure said, “We have been a part of healthy Indian kitchens for more than 25 years now. Giving back to society is a way of life at Sunpure. We are honoured and happy to collaborate with the Government of India in this important effort to fight TB. Given that India has the highest burden of TB in the world, it’s crucial for us to do our best as a nation to eliminate this disease in order to make way for a healthier India.” 

Speaking about the collaboration, Dr. Maruthi P, The Chief Medical Officer of Srirangapatna Govt. Hospital said, ” When we first received the requirement from the PM’s Office, we immediately approached MK Agrotech to facilitate the grocery kits, for which they gladly agreed to support and be a part of the PM’s TB Free India Campaign. MK Agrotech was the first choice since they have stood by us during the covid times by aiding us with the covid vaccination distribution and oxygen cylinders. We are extremely grateful for their constant support and for this wonderful gesture. MK Agrotech has really made this initiative a lot more effective for our patients.”

Since its inception in 1996, MK Agrotech – Sunpure’s parent organization – has been at the forefront of social initiatives that benefit Indian farmers and the rural ecosystem. During the Covid-19 pandemic, the company’s CSR wing, The Masoom Trust, helped thousands of people with essential services and still continues to address crucial issues in meaningful ways.

MK Agrotech’s flagship edible oil brand, Sunpure, is India’s first chemical-free processed and physically refined oil with government patented technology. Sunpure Oil is free from harmful preservatives, like tertiary butylhydroquinone (TBHQ) commonly used in food products, and is also enriched with Vitamins A, D and E.

Currently, Sunpure is present in key markets across India, namely, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Goa, and Kerala. The range of products include Sunpure Sunflower oil, Sunpure Filtered Groundnut Oil, Sunpure Rice Bran Health, Sunpure Palmpure (imported refined palmolein oil), Sunpure Sugar (refined via a sulphur-free process), Sunpure Vanaspati and Sunpure swaad (whole wheat aata produced using Swiss technology).
