Bengaluru: Ipsos, one of the world’s largest market research firms, has appointed Suresh Ramalingam as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for India, effective immediately. He takes over from Amit Adarkar, who steps down after a successful decade at the helm, having led the company through a period of consistent growth and strategic transformation.

Adarkar, who will now explore new ventures including writing—following the launch of his debut book Non-Linear—reflected positively on his journey: “India has been one of Ipsos’ top five priority markets globally, and it’s been an incredibly fulfilling experience leading such a dynamic and high-growth market. As I look ahead to new challenges, I am confident that the team will continue to thrive under Ramalingam’s leadership.”
Ramalingam joins the India leadership role from his recent position as Chief Client Officer for APEC at Ipsos, where he oversaw commercial strategy and client relationships across Asia Pacific. Since joining Ipsos in 2018 as CEO for Southeast Asia, he has successfully led operations across key markets such as Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines.
Prior to Ipsos, Ramalingam built a two-decade-long career with Nielsen (now NIQ), holding senior roles across diverse and emerging markets in the Middle East, Africa, Greater China, South Asia, Latin America, and Eastern Europe. He has lived and worked in multiple countries including India, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Cyprus, and the UAE—giving him a nuanced perspective on market and cultural complexities.
In his new role, Ramalingam will be tasked with accelerating Ipsos India’s growth trajectory, deepening its client-centric approach, and driving innovation through a portfolio of technology-led solutions.
“India has achieved remarkable progress under Adarkar’s leadership,” said Ramalingam. “My focus will be on building upon this strong foundation—driving innovation, deepening client partnerships, and fostering a high-performing, collaborative work culture. With several new launches in the pipeline, we are well-positioned to help clients achieve their ambitious goals in an evolving business environment.”

Hamish Munro, CEO of Ipsos APEC, expressed confidence in the appointment: “Ramalingam is a proven leader with a track record of delivering results across complex and diverse markets. Under his stewardship, we are confident that Ipsos India will continue to be a key growth engine and set new benchmarks for the region.”
Ramalingam is widely recognized for his motivational leadership style and focus on nurturing talent, making his appointment a strategic move in reinforcing Ipsos’ commitment to India—a critical market in its global growth strategy.
