How are you coping with the impact of Covid-19 on Vistas Media Capital? How effectively have you used the lockdown period?
The impact of lockdown has been felt across industries and around the world and like any other business in the content space, we have been impacted as well since our shoots and releases have got delayed. Having said so, this period has also given us an opportunity to go back to the drawing board and introspect what we have done and what we could have done better. It has given us the time to evaluate the situation and plan for the new normal as and when it unfolds. As a company, we have been very agile and I am sure collectively we will come out of it stronger and more stable.
The quest for a solution to a particular crisis helps invent new business opportunities and sometimes leads to a revision of existing business models. What sort of innovation has or will the Covid-19 pandemic bring to your brand/industry/category?
Like I mentioned, we have used this time to come out with a revised strategy on how to grow the company given the new limitations. We are revisiting the financial feasibility of our projects and adopting technology to increase productivity in future more than what we have been using so far.
While some parts of the country have become Covid-19 free, cities like Mumbai and Delhi are still in a lockdown situation. How are you planning to resume business across cities that are not in the Red?
It is going to be a gradual recovery for almost all industries globally but there are still a lot of areas we seek clarity on before we can resume.
What will be your communication strategy post the opening of the lockdown? Understandably bringing customers back to you would be difficult. What will be the objective of the communication/marketing strategy?
Honestly, we need to first unlearn the methods we have been using in the past and then adapt to the new normal. This self-learning process Will eventually define our communication strategy for the future.
How did you keep the morale of the employees during this lockdown period? On a personal note, what kept you positive?
Well, we have a very matured team that understands the challenges of the environment. The company has maintained effective communication both at a group level as well as individual level with its employees. I am personally reading a lot which is keeping me positive.
What are some of the post-lockdown business strategies that you will use to bring the business back on track or at least get it in the right direction and also create demand for yourself?
It’s still a little early to decide the strategy because a lot of dynamics of the industry post the lockdown has to be studied and only thereafter a new approach can be adopted. Its more a wait and watch for us currently.
Is there anything else that you would want to add?
We also feel that the human race will bounce back in general and the more stable and agile businesses will find ways to innovate and stay relevant.
