Mumbai: YouTube has expanded its Premium Lite pilot to India, offering users a more affordable subscription plan priced at ₹89 per month. The new plan allows viewers to enjoy most videos on YouTube without ads, across devices including smartphones, laptops, and TVs.
The launch comes as YouTube Music and Premium collectively reach over 125 million subscribers worldwide, including trial users. Premium Lite is the latest addition to YouTube’s subscription offerings, designed to give audiences more flexibility in how they access and enjoy content.
While Premium Lite offers ad-free viewing for most videos, ads will still appear on music content, Shorts, and during search and browsing. For users seeking additional benefits such as ad-free music, offline downloads, and background play, the standard Premium plan remains available.
The move highlights YouTube’s continued efforts to cater to diverse viewing preferences and create new revenue opportunities for creators and partners. The rollout of Premium Lite in India has begun and will be fully available nationwide in the coming weeks.
