After a series of commercial hits inspired by his books – 3 Idiots, Kai Po Che and 2 States, Half Girlfriend is Chetan Bhagat’s next big screen undertaking featuring a romantic tale that promises to leave viewers teary eyed.
While Half Girlfriend features fan favourites Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor, the widely appreciated film also features critically acclaimed character actors like Vikrant Massey, Rhea Chakraborty and Seema Biswas as pivotal characters. Half Girlfriend’s music has been beautifully composed by Raju Singh who has many chartbusters that have enjoyed the top spot on several countdowns. In fact, Baarish and Phir Bhi Tumko Chahunga have blossomed into love anthems which continue to enthral music-lovers till date.
Half Girlfriend’s storyline revolves around a simple boy from Bihar, Madhav Jha (Arjun Kapoor) who gains admission in a much sought after college in Delhi owing to his prowess at basketball. His sports quota admission, though, doesn’t guarantee Madhav a fluency in English which makes him feel like an outcast. On campus, he befriends Riya Somani (Shraddha Kapoor), a typical Delhi girl who shares his passion for basketball. The two share a terrific bond and are often seen together where it becomes evident to onlookers that their bond has progressed beyond friendship. For the simpleton at heart, Madhav, the friendship seems like love and he proposes to Riya on her birthday.
