Zee Media terminates ZEE Punjab Haryana Himachal Editor Jagdeep Singh Sandhu

Jagdeep accused of biased reporting in favour of a Political Party during the Punjab Elections.

New Delhi: Zee Media Corporation has announced the termination of Jagdeep Singh Sandhu, the Editor of ZEE Punjab Haryana Himachal Channel with effective from 28th March 2022.

Zee Media has communicated the development through an official statement which stated that Jagdeep Singh Sandhu was terminated for entering into a clandestine understanding for biased reporting in favour of a political party which contested in recently held Punjab elections. It also accused that Jagdeep had involved in corrupt practice and compromised the Journalistic Ethics.

 The Official statement stated as following:

In Through this notice, the concerned and general public at large are hereby informed that Jagdeep Singh Sandhu, with last known residence address – Sector 91 Mohali 160062, who an employee and Editor of the channel ‘ZEE Punjab Haryana Himachal, Zee Media Corporation Limited, has been terminated from his employment with effect from 28.03.2022.

“It has been brought to the notice of the management of the Zee Media that “Jagdeep Singh Sandhu” allegedly entered a clandestine understanding with a political party contesting Punjab Assembly Elections 2-3 months back. The deal is said to have been “Jagdeep will do biased reporting on ZEE PHH TV station (Number one TV channel in the state of Punjab) in favor of such political party, bypassing the organization’s policy to remain neutral and impartial all the time or otherwise & they supposedly agreed to grant him a Rajya Sabha nomination”. It is further being talked, that now the political party has backed out & is not fulfilling it’s part of the deal. Jagdeep was exposed in front of the management of Zee Media, as he suddenly wanted to persuade the management to publish stories against the said political party. “Such act by Jagdeep is seen as not only, unlawful, and unethical journalistic practice but it also amounts to defrauding and misleading the viewers of the network” said a spokesperson of Zee Media.

“It is a matter of regret that a senior Journalist like Jagdeep has stooped down to this level of corrupt practice and compromised with the Journalistic Ethics. Zee Media takes pride in its editorial policy of providing unbiased, neutral and objective information and news to its viewers. This is the reason of it commanding love and  loyalty from the viewers. We have a zero-tolerance policy for any such act of dishonesty and gross misconduct by any of its work force” added the statement.

Zee Media has cautioned general public stating that “Jagdeep Singh Sandhu” has no authority to represent the company and to enter into any arrangement/ agreement/ transaction/ deal of whatsoever nature with anyone on behalf of the Company or to receive any money/other consideration for and on behalf of the company.

General Public/Political Parties/Media or any other related are alerted and cautioned through this Notice, not to enter any transaction with Jagdeep on behalf of Zee Media in any manner and Zee Media shall not be responsible and liable for any act done by Mr. Jagdeep Singh Sandhu, added the statement.
