Tier II cities emerge as the fastest adopters of digital credit, Moneyview research shows

Bengaluru: Moneyview, a digital lending platform, has released findings from its latest survey mapping evolving financial behaviour across more than 700 districts in India. The research indicates a decisive shift toward digital-first credit usage in 2025, with borrowers increasingly using credit not just for necessities, but also for lifestyle upgrades, mobility, home improvement, education and family milestones.

According to the survey, emerging cities such as Coimbatore, Indore, Bhubaneswar, Mysuru, Jaipur and Nagpur witnessed the sharpest rise in credit demand, reflecting growing smartphone penetration and rising trust in digital financial products. While healthcare and household needs remained steady borrowing drivers, progress-oriented categories recorded the fastest growth, pointing to a more confident and aspirational borrower base.

The data also highlights strengthening digital consumption patterns among personal loan users. As many as 55% reported spending on online shopping, 52% on food ordering platforms and 40% on mobile banking apps, underscoring how credit is being seamlessly integrated into everyday digital lifestyles. AI-led journeys and mobile-first financial behaviour have increasingly become the norm across borrower segments.

Non-metro markets are now demonstrating metro-level credit maturity, with Tier II cities leading adoption trends. The survey further revealed differences in borrowing decision-making: family continued to influence borrowing choices for women borrowers (27%), while men (21%) were more likely to consult friends, colleagues or financial advisors.
