Chennai: The Leading Tamil News and Infotainment Channel Puthiya Thalaimurai, known for its unbiased and independent news in Tamil Nadu, recognizes legends and eminent rising stars every year for their achievements and contribution to the country and to the society through its prestigious Tamil Awards.
This year also the Channel has honoured a new set of legendary achievers and eminent rising stars in the field of Arts, Literature, Science, Literature, Sports and Industry in its Puthiyathaliamurai Tamilan Awards 2016, the 5th Annual Award ceremony held on 11th of August 2016 at 6.00 pm at Chennai Trade Centre.
Totally 12 awards were conferred on individuals who made a mark in different fields. The following are the list of winners of Puthiya Thalaimurai Tamilan Awards 2016:

Eminent Rising Star: Sridhar Vembu, Founder-CEO, Zoho Corporation

Legendary Achiever’s Award: Writer Prapanchan aka Prabanjan
Eminent Rising Stars: Writer Malarvathi (first woman writer from Tamil Nadu to bag the Sahitya Akademi’s Yuva Puraskar Award for her second novel Thuppukari)
Social Service:
Legendary Achiever’s Award : S Ramakrishnan
Eminent Rising Star: Piyush Manush
Science:
Legendary Achiever’s Award: Dr Mylswamy Annadurai, Director, ISRO Satellite Centre
Eminent Rising Star: Anand Kumar Chandran
Sports:
Legendary Achiever’s Award: Swimmer Kutraleeswaran

Puthiyathaliamurai Tamilan Awards 2016 presided by Dr R P Sathya Narayana – the President of Puthiya Thalaimurai also witnessed the participation of celebrities and eminent personalities from all walks of the society such as South Indian Artists Association President and Actor Nasser, Director Mahindran, Cartoonist Madhan, Former Athletic Sprinter Shiny Wilson, Actor Sasi Kumar, Lakshmipathi Adimoolam from Dinamalar Newspaper and ISRO Scientist Mayilsamy Annadurai .
While addressing the ceremony, Dr R P Sathyanarayana said, “We at Puthiyathalaimurai Channel always deliver the society beyond just being a news channel that reports News updates. Instead, we are happy to play a constructive role in shaping the society with this kind of recognition and acknowledgements that will encourage more people to participate in serving the society. We pledge our fullest support in any social cause that will help the society upbringing”.
