Kerala : The second edition of Kerala Can will be concluded with Liveathon on 20th November 2015.  The Liveathon will have three hours stating at 10 AM which will be a non-stop live telecast of the final session of Kerala Can second edition. The concluding event will see celebrities such as Mammooty, Innocent, Kailash, Mamta Mohandas, Director Kamal, Ratheesh Vega and Balabhaskar sharing their views on fighting cancer. Manju Warrier, who has been a part of Kerala Can initiative from the very beginning, will be hosting the show. Manorama News will also hand over 50 lakhs rupees to representatives of Malabar Cancer Care Society (MCCS) during the event.

With an objective of reaching out to a wider populace, the second phase of this campaign started on 23rd October 2016. Dr. R Sankaranarayanan, Dr. V. P. Gangadharan and Dr. M. V. Pillai are the mentors for this edition of Kerala Can. The ultimate goal of this programme is helping people in identifying the early symptoms to enable prevention, cure and treatment of cancer, the deadly disease of our times.

Upholding the spirit of Kerala Can and aligned with the goal of spreading cancer awareness, four health camps have been conducted across central and north Kerala. The launch of Breast Cancer Brigade in association with Malabar Cancer Care Society (MCCS) was a landmark activity during one of the camps. The Breast Cancer Brigade is targeted in triggering micro level awareness through trained groups such as NSS, NCC and Kudumbasree.

MCCS has a team of 55,000 educated volunteers with 25 years of experience, and an active presence in the five districts of Malabar. Eram Group with presence in India and Middle East is walking hand in hand with Manorama News in supporting this noble initiative.

Novelist C. Radhakrishnan, actors Nivin Pauly and Anumol were also part if this initiative. The campaign’s first phase, was carried out successfully in January 2016. Manorama News, in association with Kochi Cancer Society and Indian Medical Association, launched the campaign to build confidence among Keralites, and to prompt early screening for detection and treatment.
