As part of its flagship initiative Mangayar Thiruvizha 2022, Colors Tamil honoured R. Hemalatha and R Amshaveni as a tribute to women for their unwavering service to humanity.
The event was held at Salem Gujarathi Samaj Kalayanam Mandapam and was graced with the presence of Tmt. Thaiyal Nayagi, Salem Deputy Superintendent of Police, the chief guest, and Tmt. Saradha Devi, Deputy Mayor, a special guest, along with 1500 women from the city.
Aimed at promoting cleanliness and hygiene, the channel tied up with the Salem Corporation to paint the city green at major hotspots, including the Salem New Bus stand.

We are thrilled to see such a large turnout, and we intend to keep the momentum going.”
Mangayir Thiruvizha 2022, the channel’s flagship initiative, aims to recognise and honour women from across Tamil Nadu who have made contributions to their communities, trying to integrate the alienated ones into society. Following the initiative’s success in Erode, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Trichy, Thanjavur, and Theni, Colors Tamil took a conscious choice to honour such courageous and compassionate women in Salem.
Due to her outstanding artistic abilities that helped children understand the importance of societal and environmental issues while also helping them set world records, Hemalatha. R received the prestigious award. R Amshaveni, on the other hand, was recognised for her Subham Charitable Trust that provides handicapped people with a new lease of life.
The programme proceeded with a general health session in which Dr. Sathya Sudhakar, Gynaecologist Kauvery Hospitals, presented women with insights on various measures and lifestyle improvements that they can make for a balanced living. An instructional discussion by Vithya Naganathan on how to make positive changes for both emotional and physical well-being, as well as how women can relieve their emotional distress and deal with crisis, was followed by a zumba session.
A vaccination camp offering free vaccination and booster doses in association with Reddiyur Urban Primary Health Centre was organised by Colors Tamil.
The one-day celebration accentuated the resilience of women with a range of entertainment programmes, including caricature art, dance, singing, and henna art, among other things. The phenomenal caricature art was drawn of each interested person in just a span of 2 minutes by Nisha, a student of Kavin Arts College, who has been pursuing this for four years now.
During the gala event, renowned Colors Tamil artists Rashmitha Roja, Nakhul, Nanjil Vijayan and Sridevi, entertained the crowd with outstanding performances while women from different walks of life also performed on stage, showcasing their talents.
