Chennai: TVS Motor Company is set for a major leadership transition as Sudarshan Venu will assume the role of Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of the company, effective August 25, 2025. This marks a significant step in the company’s evolution, as Venu takes the reins from Sir Ralf Speth, who will conclude his term as chairman at the close of the Annual General Meeting (AGM) on August 22, 2025.
Sir Ralf Speth, who has chaired the company for the past three years, will continue to be associated with TVS Motor in a new role as Chief Mentor for a three-year term beginning August 23. Under his chairmanship, TVS Motor witnessed increased global expansion and innovation-driven growth. “Ralf’s strategic insights and global perspective have played a key role in shaping our international ambitions,” said Venu Srinivasan, Chairman Emeritus of TVS Motor Company. “We are grateful for his continued support and guidance as we welcome Sudarshan into his new role.”
Currently serving as Managing Director, Sudarshan Venu has played a transformative role in the company’s strategic growth and global positioning. He has been pivotal in expanding TVS Motor’s international footprint to over 80 countries, driving a strong sustainability agenda, and securing a dominant position in the electric mobility space, with TVS capturing over 25% market share in EVs.
Venu’s tenure has been marked by bold acquisitions and innovation-led initiatives, including the launch of TVS iQube, the company’s first electric scooter in 2020, and the purchase of Ego Movement, a Swiss e-mobility company. He also led the acquisition of the iconic British brand Norton Motorcycles, strengthening the company’s presence in premium global segments.
Beyond the two- and three-wheeler business, Sudarshan Venu has overseen the establishment of Emerald Haven Realty Ltd., a key real estate venture, and TVS Credit Services, a major non-banking financial company. His academic credentials include dual bachelor’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Economics from the University of Pennsylvania and a Master’s in International Technology Management from the University of Warwick.
Reflecting on the leadership transition, Speth expressed full confidence in his successor. “Sudarshan brings a rare mix of passion and vision to the business. I am certain he will continue to steer TVS towards global excellence,” he said.
In response, Venu acknowledged Speth’s mentorship. “Sir Ralf has consistently challenged and guided us to think globally, bring in world-class talent, and invest in futuristic technologies. I look forward to building on that foundation with his continued support as chief mentor,” he said.
Under Venu’s leadership, TVS Motor is now counted among the world’s top five two-wheeler manufacturers, a testament to his focus on innovation, technology, and sustainable growth. His elevation to CMD marks a new chapter for the legacy Indian company as it accelerates into its next phase of global leadership.
