New Delhi: Media industry veteran Rabindra Narayan, best known for his leadership at PTC Network, has launched a new venture titled GTC Network (Galactic Television & Communications). The company, incorporated on August 24, 2025, in Amritsar, Punjab, has been set up to operate across motion picture, video and television production, sound recording, and music publishing.
Narayan, 58, stepped down from his role as President & Managing Director of PTC Network in late August, ending a long stint during which he transformed the broadcaster into an international platform for Punjabi voices. Reflecting on his exit, he noted, “Leading PTC has been more than a role; it’s been a mission to give Punjabi voices a global stage.”
In his new avatar as Managing Director & President of GTC Network, Narayan has outlined ambitions beyond broadcasting. On LinkedIn, he has been posting about multiple hirings and hinted at building what he calls “the biggest Global Indian Creators’ Hub” by collaborating with newscasters and content creators worldwide.
Industry sources suggest that GTC Network is preparing for a soft launch around Diwali, with its marquee project likely to be an AI-curated Punjabi music festival series. This marks a strategic bet on technology-driven cultural formats at a time when the media sector is navigating cord-cutting and algorithm-led content discovery.
Narayan’s journey in the media world began in theatre in the 1990s, later moving to leadership roles at Zee Punjabi and ETC Punjabi, where he built a reputation for combining grassroots storytelling with modern broadcast innovation.
With GTC Network, he now aims to leverage that experience toward scaling Indian content globally through innovation and new-age media collaborations.
