Expansion targets health tech and consumer health services with focus on digital and performance marketing

Medulla expands global footprint with strategic launch in the US

US: Medulla Communications today announced its official entry into the United States, marking a significant milestone in the agency’s global expansion journey. This move follows Medulla’s recent foray into Singapore and the launch of Capsule, a joint venture designed to create India’s first super-specialist healthcare events agency. The US launch strengthens Medulla’s mission to deliver world-class healthcare communication and marketing solutions across key international markets.

Leading the agency’s US operations as Consulting Director is Andrew Schirmer, a seasoned healthcare advertising leader with over three decades of experience at top global networks including WPP/Ogilvy, IPG/McCann, and Omnicom. Schirmer has collaborated with healthcare companies, governments, and NGOs worldwide, crafting communication strategies that have driven measurable health impact across audiences and categories. His leadership is expected to play a pivotal role in establishing Medulla’s presence and partnerships in the US.

Initially, Medulla’s US operations will focus on health tech and consumer health brands, offering full-funnel marketing solutions that combine performance and brand storytelling.

“The era of health-tech brands and startups having to choose between market understanding and cost-effectiveness is over,” said Andrew Schirmer. “Our model brings together the best of both worlds—US-based strategic leadership and India-based creative and digital execution that’s fast, technically sound, and cost-effective.”

The agency has already been working with several US-based health-tech startups from its Mumbai office, delivering both digital consumer communication and performance marketing initiatives.

“Andrew’s appointment reflects our commitment to blending global expertise with deep local insight, and also to invest deeply in our US presence,” added Amit Akali, Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer, Medulla Communications. “Together, we aim to help health tech brands build powerful, purposeful connections with their audiences.”

Under Akali’s leadership, Medulla Communications has transformed India’s healthcare advertising landscape, earning recognition at Cannes Lions, Effies, and other global award platforms for both creativity and effectiveness.

“Indian healthcare advertising has already made a mark at advertising awards across the world, probably winning more metals and Grand Prix for India than any other specialist sector. Now we hope that the unique voice of Indian healthcare advertising will get utilised and appreciated by global clients,” said Akali.
