Guwahati: News18 Assam Northeast is set to present a special tribute show to mark the birth anniversary of the beloved Zubeen Garg. The musical programme, celebrating his extraordinary life and artistic legacy, will be telecast exclusively on 18th and 19th November from 7:50 PM onwards.
Zubeen Garg, one of Assam’s most cherished voices, shaped the cultural and musical consciousness of the region for over three decades. More than a legendary singer and composer, he emerged as a socially conscious voice for Assamese society.
To commemorate his birth anniversary, News18 Assam Northeast hosted a special tribute evening on 14th November in Guwahati, bringing together musicians, admirers, and well-wishers to celebrate the life, music, and enduring spirit of an artist whose creations continue to resonate deeply across Assam. Zubeen Garg’s music resides in the heart of every Assamese, echoing across our festivals, our quiet moments, and our collective soul. Through his melodies, he became more than an artist; he became an emotion that unites us all.
The tribute evening featured performances by renowned artists, including Mahalakshmi Iyer and Joi Barua, who presented some of Zubeen Garg’s most loved songs. Leading voices from Guwahati, among them Diganta Bharati, Pranamika Goswami, Bhaswatii Bharati, Rupam Bhuyan, Barnali Kalita, Sajan Nayak, Mousam Gogoi, Arundhati Bhanupriya, Papori Gogoi, Prashanta Rajkhowa, Janam Kashyap, Alangkrita–Rupangkrita, Surekha Chetri, Minakshi Kalita, Nahid Afrin and Panchuna Rabha also delivered heartfelt musical tributes celebrating his lasting contribution to Assamese music and culture.
