‘Naagin’ returns with Season 7 as JioStar and Balaji Telefilms unveil franchise’s biggest chapter yet
Share Share ShareShare

Mumbai: India’s longest-running fantasy television franchise is set to make a high-voltage comeback as JioStar and Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms announce the return of ‘Naagin’ with Season 7, premiering on 27th December 2025. Marking 10 years of the iconic franchise, the new season ushers in a larger, technologically enhanced chapter led by Priyanka Chahar Choudhary in the titular role, alongside Namik Paul in a pivotal character.

Airing every Saturday and Sunday at 8:00 PM exclusively on COLORS and JioHotstar, Naagin 7 positions itself as a flagship weekend property, combining mythological storytelling with advanced production values. Set against the culturally significant backdrop of Mahakumbh 2025, the new season introduces a high-stakes narrative that expands the Naagin universe into new mystical territories.

At the heart of the story is a national-scale conflict triggered by a toxic catastrophe threatening widespread devastation. As the chosen heir of the ancient Anantkul, Naagin must rise to protect the nation, transforming the battle from a personal quest into a mythic war.

Speaking on the franchise’s return, Alok Jain, JioStar, said, “Naagin has long transcended television to become a cultural phenomenon. With Naagin 7, we, at JioStar are proud to bring back one of India’s most iconic fantasy franchises, elevated with AI-assisted visual design and enhanced VFX to meet today’s viewer expectations. The show continues to strike the right balance between nostalgia and reinvention, making it a powerful driver of weekend primetime. This season, we have pushed creative and technological boundaries to deliver a chapter that is larger in scale, emotionally engaging, and deeply relevant to contemporary audiences.”

Highlighting the creative ambition behind the new season, Ektaa Kapoor, Producer, Balaji Telefilms Ltd., said, “JioStar and Balaji’s journey with Naagin has always been about pushing imagination to new frontiers, and Season 7 is our biggest creative leap. In the last decade, Naagin has evolved from a show into a cultural legacy powered by the audience’s love for myths and mystery. For the first time, we’re placing a story against the backdrop of Mahakumbh 2025—one of India’s most iconic cultural milestones—and reimagining it through a grander, more ambitious lens. With dragons, werewolves, and new mystical realms, Naagin 7 expands the universe like never before, redefining what Indian television can dream, build, and believe.”

For Priyanka Chahar Choudhary, the role marks a milestone moment in her television journey. Speaking about her association with the franchise, she said, “Naagin 7 is truly a dream turning real for me. I still remember the moment on Bigg Boss when Ekta ma’am said I would be her next Naagin—and today, standing in that very role feels magical. Working with Balaji Telefilms for the first time and coming back to COLORS and JioHotstar feels like everything has come full circle. Purvi is a beautifully layered character. On the surface she’s soft, sincere, and unassuming, yet she carries the legacy of the Anantkul’s most powerful Naagin without even knowing it. That journey from innocence to extraordinary strength is what drew me to her. Naagin is a phenomenon with a legacy like no other, and I’m grateful to carry it forward. I hope the audience feels the emotion, the power, and the transformation that Purvi brings to Naagin 7.”

The ensemble cast also includes Beena Banerjee, Karan Kundrra, Tejasswi Prakash, Alice Kaushik, and Ruhi Chaturvedi, further strengthening the franchise’s appeal across generations.

With expanded lore, cutting-edge visual effects, and a culturally rooted narrative, Naagin 7 aims to redefine the fantasy genre on Indian television while reinforcing its status as one of the country’s most valuable entertainment IPs.

‘Naagin 7’ premieres on 27th December 2025 and airs every Saturday–Sunday at 8:00 PM exclusively on COLORS and JioHotstar.
