Mumbai: Tata Communications, a global digital ecosystem enabler, has announced the appointment of Ganesh Lakshminarayanan as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer–Designate of Tata Communications Limited.
Ganesh brings with him over three decades of international management experience, having worked across multinational corporations, B2B start-ups, and large Indian enterprises. Most recently, he served as Managing Director and Group Vice President for ServiceNow India and SAARC, where he was responsible for driving market growth for the company. Prior to joining ServiceNow, Ganesh was the CEO of Airtel Business in India, and earlier led Airtel’s Enterprise Business unit. Under his leadership, the enterprise business unit received the Chairman’s Award for Best BU in FY23, achieved 50% growth over three years, and increased market share from 30% to 33%.
Academically, Ganesh holds an MBA with high distinction from the Ross School of Business, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He also earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Engineering from Guindy Engineering College, Chennai, graduating as a gold medalist.
Ganesh has been elected twice to the NASSCOM Executive Council and has served on the FICCI Council. He is also a founding member of Social Venture Partners Bengaluru, reflecting his long-standing engagement with industry leadership and social impact initiatives.

The appointment of Ganesh Lakshminarayanan as Managing Director and CEO–Designate is subject to receipt of the necessary regulatory approvals. Upon obtaining these approvals, the Board of Tata Communications will formally appoint him as Managing Director & CEO, at which point he will take over from Mr. A. S. Lakshminarayanan, the current Managing Director and CEO of Tata Communications Limited, who is set to retire on April 13, 2026.
