Mumbai: KFC created a striking brand moment at RK Beach with the unveiling of India’s tallest sand bucket, celebrating the launch of its newest restaurant on Beach Road.
Known for its vibrant shoreline and bustling footfall, RK Beach witnessed an unusual spectacle as a life-size KFC bucket sculpture emerged from the sand, capturing the attention of locals and tourists alike. The installation, crafted entirely from over seven tonnes of beach sand, was brought to life by local sand artist Akunuru Balaji Varaprasad over a span of 48 hours.
The larger-than-life sculpture, inspired by KFC’s iconic bucket, quickly turned into a viral attraction and a popular photo backdrop, blending seamlessly with the beach’s cultural and social landscape. The initiative marks KFC’s first-ever sand sculpture bucket installation in India, reflecting a creative approach to on-ground engagement.
The activation coincides with the opening of KFC’s new Beach Road outlet, located opposite the installation. Designed to complement its coastal surroundings, the 2,280 sq. ft. restaurant features a 70-seater layout with boat-inspired interiors, a bamboo-clad façade, and sea-facing seating, offering a relaxed dining experience for beachgoers.
By combining art, location, and brand storytelling, KFC aims to strengthen its connection with consumers while celebrating Vizag’s beach culture. With the installation drawing crowds and the new outlet now operational, the brand is set to make a strong impression in the city’s growing food and lifestyle landscape.
