Mumbai: The Cyber Crime Police in Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh, have taken action against an organised piracy network involved in the unauthorized streaming of premium television and OTT content, including content available on JioHotstar.
This action follows earlier enforcement against a large-scale illegal IPTV operation and represents a continuation of the crackdown, extending to associated and expanded nodes of the network.
As per official disclosures dated 6 April 2026, three individuals have been arrested from UP, Punjab and Rajasthan in connection with the operation of an illegal IPTV network identified as “BOS IPTV”. The network was engaged in the unauthorized dissemination of copyrighted content including ongoing TATA IPL 2026 across all platforms.
Preliminary findings indicate that the operation had built a user base of over 900 connected users and was being run through coordinated digital channels, including messaging platforms. Authorities have also identified structured financial flows linked to the operation, with collections being facilitated through QR code-based payments, bank accounts, and other deposit mechanisms.
During the course of the investigation, law enforcement authorities seized multiple electronic devices and financial records indicating the scale and organised nature of the operation. Approximately ₹20 lakh linked to the accused has been frozen as part of the enforcement action.
This action follows a complaint supported by JioStar India Private Limited, which holds exclusive broadcast and digital rights to premium sports and entertainment content. The case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Information Technology Act, and the Copyright Act.
The development underscores continued coordination between rights holders and law enforcement agencies in addressing organised digital piracy. Investigations remain ongoing, with authorities indicating the possibility of further action as additional links within the network are examined
