Iyer joins from Netflix, where he spent close to eight years in multiple roles, most recently as Director – Marketing. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in shaping the platform’s social and brand marketing strategy, contributing to both subscriber growth and revenue expansion.
One of his key achievements at Netflix was scaling the platform’s social media footprint in India from approximately 500,000 followers to over 55 million. He was also instrumental in executing more than 250 campaigns across content marketing, partnerships, and brand-building initiatives.
In addition to his India mandate, Iyer took on a broader leadership role overseeing social marketing strategy across the Asia-Pacific region. In this capacity, he helped design and implement strategies targeting a combined audience base of over 200 million users.
At Sony LIV, Iyer succeeds Aman Srivastava, who previously served as Senior Vice-President and Head of Marketing for OAP Digital Business. Srivastava exited the company after a tenure spanning more than a decade with Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI).
Iyer’s appointment comes at a time when competition in the streaming space continues to intensify, with platforms sharpening their focus on content-led growth, brand differentiation, and digital engagement. His experience in scaling large-scale marketing ecosystems is expected to play a key role in strengthening Sony LIV’s market positioning in India and beyond.
