Mumbai: Sony SAB has announced the launch of its upcoming mythological series, Hastinapur Ke Veer, a grand retelling of the formative years of the Pandavas and Kauravas before they evolved into the iconic figures of the Mahabharata. The show is set to premiere on June 2 and will air Monday to Saturday at 9 PM on Sony SAB and Sony LIV.
Positioned as a fresh interpretation of one of India’s most revered epics, Hastinapur Ke Veer explores the childhood, relationships, rivalries, and defining experiences that shaped the destinies of the Pandavas and Kauravas within the kingdom of Hastinapur.
The series aims to move beyond the larger-than-life mythology associated with the Mahabharata and delve into the emotional and human dimensions of the characters, focusing on themes of brotherhood, expectations, upbringing, and personal choices.
Produced by Peninsula Pictures, the show features a large ensemble cast including Toral Rasputra as Kunti, Athar Khan as Yudhishthir, Subhash Khatri as Bheem, Urva Savaliya as Arjun, Harit Gabani as Nakul, Mayank Yadav as Sahdev, Ayudh Bhanushali as Duryodhan, Shaurya Upadhyay as Dushasan, Jiten Lalwani as Dronacharya, Chandan Anand as Shakuni, and Manish Wadhwa as Bhishm Pitamah among others.
Mounted on an expansive scale, the production brings together elaborate sets, intricate costumes, and detailed production design to recreate the grandeur of the Mahabharata era.

Speaking about the show, Ajay Bhalwankar, Chief Content Officer, Sony SAB, said, “At Sony SAB, our mission is to tell stories that families can watch together and carry forward as shared experiences. With Hastinapur Ke Veer, we are not just revisiting mythology — we are presenting the formative journeys of the Pandavas and Kauravas in a way that highlights values, relationships, and choices, that remain relevant even today. This show reflects Sony SAB’s commitment to meaningful, family-friendly storytelling that entertains while also inspiring audiences across generations.”
Sharing her experience of portraying Kunti, actor Toral Rasputra said, “Playing Kunti has been an incredibly enriching experience for me as an actor. She is often remembered as a strong, composed mother, but what fascinated me was exploring the woman behind that strength, her fears, her sacrifices, and the emotional weight she carries as a mother shaping the future of her children. As an actor, it challenged me to portray both her inner conflicts and her outward strength with nuance. I believe audiences will see a side of Kunti that feels more real and relatable, not just as a mythological figure, but as a woman, a mother, and an individual whose decisions play a crucial role in shaping history.”
With mythology continuing to remain a strong genre across Indian television, Hastinapur Ke Veer marks Sony SAB’s latest attempt to blend large-scale storytelling with emotionally layered narratives aimed at family audiences.
The show premieres June 2 and will air Monday to Saturday at 9 PM on Sony SAB.
